  1. Anyone else frustrated with editorialmanager.com/ log in -mess? I consider declining from any further reviewer assessments. #editorialmanager

  4. @dingemansemark @academicchatter For that reason, I have chosen to simply email my review to the action editor and authors. The journal didn't like it but I told them I couldn't care much less. #editorialmanager #schmeditorialmanager

  5. Ah.. reviewers and editors. On a recent paper submission, I was asked to _not_ upload track changes format, as the reviewers could not read the text with all the strikethroughs. They apparently did not realize that it was _their_ tool that formatted the track changes exactly this way (#editorialmanager). I was forced to upload a word file. They can use this #word file however they want to render tracked changes differently.

But there is no point in arguing with editors. See #VB script below.

  6. @LudoWaltman Happy to see I'm not the only one frequently struggling with that mess of a platform. Recently, I spent half a day just trying to upload a revised manuscript. And just this morning, #EditorialManager gave me weird error messages when I tried to approve the revisions.

  7. By the way, I reviewed this paper for a journal that uses #EditorialManager. I hate this system. Submitting my review to the journal took more time than publishing it openly on the wonderful #PubPub platform.

Why do we still do peer review in this clumsy old-fashioned way?

  12. Sorry, #PlosONE but when I make the effort to decline a review you have sent me that is completely outside my expertise, I don't want to log into #EditorialManager with a password I don't know and offer suggestions for other reviewers. Why cannot you just accept my decline when I click on the link in the e-mail? Now, you will have to wait 6 days for my invitation to expire. #changeyoursystem #academiclife

  13. I have 12 separate logins in my password manager for #EditorialManager and one of them (until a few minutes ago) was literally eight asterisks.

  14. Anno 2023: why is it necessary to make full new profile on #ManuscriptCentral or #EditorialManager for every single journal I am requested to review for?

Password retreival, entering affiliation, keywords, demographics.

Can we come up with a solutioin please? I'm starting to lose interest to do the reviews 😞
