When a governing political party goes foot-to-the-floor on an idea that contravenes every social norm and is anything but ethical and completely void of integrity, the people that pay taxes in that jurisdiction should not have to foot the bill for cleaning up the mess.

Great questions from the press today!
And yet, not once during his tirade did #DougFord address the integrity and ethics concerns that we all have and that he was directly asked about.
Since Ford brought up the topic of fulfilling their mandate ... where are those letters anyway?
People are not coming to Ontario for the jobs - they're escaping their past. No, we don't have enough homes to house them yet - but we also don't have sufficient jobs, infrastructure or supply chains. Hell, we haven't even recovered from #covid19 ...

Like Trump, the storm of wide ranging and new controversies tends to protect Ford from any single issue (selling off the greenbelt might be the exception). There's too much to focus on and tomorrow there will be something new that his government has effed up. So it's been easy for us, and unfortunately most news media, to forget about his mandate letters. Why is he fighting so hard to hide them from the public?

In "always read to the end of the article" news, I missed that the Ford government was told by Ontario's Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner that yes, it did have to comply with a CBC Freedom of Information request about how many hours Crown counsel has spent on court challenges and appeals to keep the mandate letters from the public. The government has responded by spending more hours and money challenging THAT decision in court.

Ontario’s position is provincial Mandate Letters are covered under cabinet confidentiality, therefore *shall not be seen* by the citizens to whom they apply, or the press. (Seemingly helped along in their arguments by the justice from Newfoundland…)
If SCC finds agreement with this argument, provinces will be given carte blanche to hide their government’s mandate from the electorate. Why would you want to hide your mandate? Corruption.
