Well done for getting this far, past Christmas night, soon be over, thinking of anyone for whom it’s a trial. Anyone alone or in difficulty. Boxing Day is easier. One of my xmases led to my being a writer, it can be survived. My angel was a book called ‘Waterfalls of the World’
In that book was a photo of Angel Falls and soon I went there. The rest, as they say, is history. With Angel Falls came the Amazon rainforest and a lifelong obsession. It literally saved me. #Christmas #MamaAmazonica

In 4 days I’ll be 69, I’m celebrating getting this far by posting one good thing per day until Tuesday. Here I am at #RSL #Ondaatje Prize dinner, winning for 7th collection #MamaAmazonica, the 1st poet ever to win & only the 2nd woman!
