  1. If you should want to observe a Toba or Yellowstone supervolcano exploding from 10 parsecs away.

Ostberg et al. 2024, "The Prospect of Detecting Volcanic Signatures on an ExoEarth Using Direct Imaging" - hou.usra.edu/meetings/lpsc2024

    via @fraser

("Direct Imaging" is a term of art here. It refers to planets being imaged separately from stars, but still appearing as dots - just very interesting ones. The aerosols & gas from an eruption would show up in disc-integrated spectra.)

  33. Starting Day 3 at #LPSC2024 where we left off Day 2, with the To Bennu and Back session. I have to say, I'm not surprised, but the Bennu sessions are among the most joyous I've ever covered at an LPSC. From presenters to audience, Bennu sessions are Happyville.

  34. Wow! I can see why Io people go ga-ga over that moon.

  39. I have to say, after following OSIRIS-REx for so long, watching its launch on TV, following its rendezvous with Bennu & attending multiple OREx LPSC talks over the years, to witness these Quick-Look results is just surreal. I couldn't be happier for everyone involved! #LPSC2024

  49. Quiet before the storm as the first Lunar and Planetary Science poster session to get under way tonight at 6 p.m. Session II set for Thursday night. Over 500 or so poster presenters and 2,000+ people set to attend. #LPSC2024

  50. Starting Day 2 in the DART session. At #LPSC2022, there was so much talk about how cool DART was going to be. At #LPSC2023, there were so many pretty pix/early results of DART giving Dimorphos the old 1-2. Now at #LPSC2024 it’s on to the serious detective work of what DART found.
