'Causing heads to explode': Alarms sound as #ProTrump union leader accused of '#sabotage'

October 3, 2024"Political observers and experts are raising alarms about the International #Longshoreman's Association union strike, which has seen #dockworkers suspend their duties unloading cargo at ports along the East and Gulf Coasts — speculating whether the head of the union is attempting economic sabotage in favor of former President Donald #Trump.
"#USMX, the key guild of maritime employers, offered the ILA upwards of 60 percent salary increases in their new contracts. The ILA, however, is demanding even higher increases, as well as the continuation of exorbitant fees to handle shipping containers — a practice so expensive, according to maritime journalist John Konrad, that U.S. ports frequently ship freight over roads hundreds of miles at ten times the expense to consumers rather than transport containers onto secondary barges at a fraction of the price to consumers — as well as a total ban on any new technology to automate ports, which industry experts have warned could destroy the competitiveness of U.S. shipping.
"The extreme nature of the demands has caused speculation among observers that the whole thing might be a ploy to get Trump elected."

10/1/2024"Images of the President of the International Longshoremen's Association meeting with former President Donald Trump circulated on social media as the union went on strike Tuesday.
"The images are pulled from a July post on the union's website where union President #HaroldDaggett asked for members to 'pray
for the former president in the wake of the assassination attempt in Pennsylvania."In the post Daggett recalled a 2023 meeting with Trump where the former president appeared to express support for the Longshoremen.
"'We had a wonderful, productive 90-minute meeting where I expressed to President Trump the threat of automation to American workers,' Daggett said. 'President Trump promised to support the ILA in its opposition to automated terminals in the U.S. Mr. Trump also listened to my concerns about Federal 'Right To Work' laws which undermines unions and their ability to represent and fight for its membership.'
"The strike begins the same day as the vice-presidential debate and days after Trump, appearing at a rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, admitted to avoiding paying overtime."

The #Biden Admin needs to resolve the #Longshoreman #strike ASAP.Not only will it tank the #economy just ahead of the #election (playing into #DementiaDon's strongest issue), but just like the #SupplyChainCrisis, it will increase prices and teach companies how much we are willing to pay for everything (people are STILL waiting for prices to fall to pre-Covid levels but never will.)
This strike will raise prices even more & not return after the strike ends if not resolved ASAP. 😒
