@mbt3d Thanks for the help! That special case, however, was caused by the Bevel Modifier, that gets added by the importer plugin to soften the otherwise hard edges. #LDraw geometry is composed of many small primitives ("primitive" as in "just a circular arc edge"). Unfortunately that often generates meshes with intersecting or overlapping faces, especially with more complicated parts. Simple shaders have no problems with these, but they cause hickups in #Blender's #Cycles renderer.

Some links on the #LDraw page return 404 (like https://www.ldraw.org/library/tracker/tools/). Should I be worried?

🧱 LeoCAM (later LeoMCAD) is an old fork of #LeoCAD (pre-Qt), made by a research team at the University of Girona.
They used it for various robotics, mechanics and physics simulations: https://github.com/leozide/leocad/issues/92
Some features, like assembly action animation player missed even in latest LeoCAD.

More Lego LDraw renders! The UCS Star Destroyer was one of the first models I tested with when making some improvements to the three.js LDrawLoader. 3000+ pieces and over 4 million polygons rendered with the three.js pathtracer.

I grabbed some LDraw Lego models from my childhood era to render with three-gpu-pathtracer and using volume transmission for the translucent parts really looks amazing. The models look so good!
