Still a work-in-progress, but I just got done doing the greeble on this Mystery Science Theater door and wanted to share!
I had to make a few judgement calls, fill in some blanks, and the lighting isn't perfect... but I think it's close enough to the original. 😎

Felt like texturing something I didn't make for practice. Basically digital miniature painting.
The model is this mimic by Yasashii Kyojin Studio on Thingiverse.
The brick floor is this one from polyhaven.
This took me probably about 4 or 5 hours of work. A surprising amount of work went into getting the boundaries sharp and in the right place. I almost feel like it might have been less work to model and sculpt it from scratch and keep the materials separated by object. I might have to do a mimic of my own soon.
The turntable video is rendered in #Eevee and the still is rendered in #Cycles. Unfortuntately, I forgot to turn on screen-space reflections for Eevee.

Okay "Last Light" has had a bit more work. I'm MUCH happier with this version - I think the vibe has really come together how I was imagining it.
Hope you like it too! Always keen for feedback if you have any 😊

New art, "Last Light". All made in Blender, composited with RapidRAW.
Took around 50 hours in total, with a stonking 12hr render time and maxing out all 24GB VRAM 😅 but at least the rendering kept my flat warm.
Made with True-Terrain, True-Sky, True-VDB and the KitBash3D Valhalla asset pack.
Always keen for feedback to help me improve - would love to hear your thoughts, positive or negative.

I animated this one too!
Getting the chrome to look the way it does was a fun challenge. It didn't reflect anything but the environment in the reference.
I had a good time figuring out how to make the purple wall texture procedurally, too.

Trapper Keeper Art #3
The chrome bits in the foreground were supposed to look a little more liquid-like. But I didn't like how the effect jittered in animation, so I just made them blobs.
Maybe something to revisit later.

Been a while but I'm back!
Here's a super early preview of something I'm currently working on in Blender. Lots more to do (doesn't even have the subject yet) but I'm already pretty happy with where it's going.
As always, this is not AI, but my own creative output 🙏

Art advent day 9: eggnog
Spent a couple days working on this one. Couldn't get the cinnamon (both the powder and the stick) looking just the way I wanted, but it's not terrible. I spent forever trying to deform the cinnamon stick with a curve deform modifier, but couldn't crack it, so I used a lattice deform instead.
The foam probably took me 5 hours alone, and I gave up on everything I was trying to do. I wanted bubbles in it, but couldn't figure that out. I tried geometry nodes with a hand-crafted bubble, but it never looked quite right. I also tried using volumetric rendering, creating the porous appearance with a high density volume, but the part that was supposed to be diffuse never looked correct. I should probably just buy a fancy foam material at some point, but I want to know how to do this myself.

Art advent day 8: Stocking
This was a pretty easy one. Just a couple tubes, some cloth deformation in sculpt mode, a quick fur object, and borrowing the candy cane from a previous day. I was going to put it over a fireplace or something, but "Fireplace" is a later day's, so I'll do it then.

Art advent day 6: Snowman
Still 5 days behind. Planning to catch up over the weekend. This one was an excuse to sculpt a decent-enough male basemesh, then destroy it with my horrible rigging and posing skills and wobbly displacement in the snow shader. I'm still pretty happy with it.

The #OneRing from #TheLordOfTheRings in #Blender. This actually took quite a lot of effort to get looking good. I tried a handful of different approaches, from boolean modifiers to normal maps, to actually sculpting the letters in (which did not go well).
Normal maps didn't get the look of depth I wanted. I wouldn't mind something like parallax maps, but that's not an easy thing to achieve in Blender. In order to get the displacement good enough, I had to crank subdivisions way up. This is 16.7 million triangles. I tried some approaches with some selective subdivision, but I couldn't get the seam between the high and low resolution looking just the way I wanted it to. My video card doesn't have nearly enough memory for this, so I had to do it on the CPU. This took about 2 hours to render. I added a simple glare via the compositor. I ran a 2.5 minute one first with denoising, and I have to say, not a lot of difference between the short and long version. Blender's denoiser is pretty good.

@ajsadauskas @joakimfors While the green coating is not contiguous, the bike lane is.
If you look at the first photo, the concrete path to the left of the shrubs is the regular footpath for walking. So it's completely separated from both cars and pedestrians.
The dedicated bike lane runs the entire length of the street, beyond the roundabout.
I've attached a screenshot from Google Maps with the bike lane marked in purple.
At the northern end, it connects with a light rail stop, as well as shared pedestrian/cycling paths along the Parramatta River (marked in yellow). There's also a few fairly large apartment developments, and a large girl's school, and a university nearby as well.
The light rail runs to the main public square, business district, a major public hospital, and the main restaurant street in Parramatta. The river runs to the northern end of the business precinct.
(I've circled the main Parramatta Central Business District in red.)
At the southern end, it connects to a shared pedestrian/cycling path under the motorway. (The motorway is elevated with the path underneath. I've marked it in green.) It's also close to the suburban train stations at Granville and Clyde.
So it's a valuable north-south cycling link that significantly improves the overall bike network in the area.

I don't like or use #Windows anymore, but I did always like these cool #Wallpapers, and always wanted to make one of my own.
This is made in #Blender with #LuxCoreRender, though the caustics are subtle enough that #Cycles probably would have done a good enough job.
Maybe I'll do a Linux version, but I'm not sure exactly how I'd go about it. There's a lot of distros. I could just throw a bunch of icons in a pile, but that might look tacky. I could just do a standalone for #GentooLinux, which I still love, even though I use #FedoraLinux now.

This part is sloped upwards meaning that #cyclists are usually slower and, if nothing else, would hinder #MotorTraffic, possibly causing frustration and the urge to overtake #bikers dangerously. The solution here is to allow #cycles and pedestrians on this path. The #BusLane is only active on weekday mornings.
