Peter Sarstedt. Where Do You Go to My Lovely

A bit of a change of pace/mood for today's killer cut; Sarstedt's exquisite ballad of the secrets behind the jet set, is a wonderful piece of social commentary set to music, both arch and poignant which over 50 years later still amuses (well, it amuses me). The combination of a lilting arrangement & the wry vocal tells a great story of secrets & class.

Albert King. Born Under a Bad Sign

As well as producing some great soul, Stax records was also the home of a sort of soul-blues fusion, of which this Albert King track is a wonderful example. A great blues, with a massive horn arrangement, and a soulful/funky beat; its such a great groove.

And if it sounds familiar, you may have heard Cream's nearly note for note cover (which, of course, lacks the horns).
