The Power of Scripture
Psalm 119 is a powerful reminder of the impact of scripture on our lives. As we read through these verses, we’re struck by the depth and richness of God’s Word. It’s not just a book of rules or regulations; it’s a living, breathing source of life that can guide us through even the darkest of times.
David writes, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path” (Psalm 119:105 NIV). This verse speaks to the transformative power of scripture in our lives. When we immerse ourselves in God’s Word, it becomes a source of guidance, comfort, and strength.
Building Unshakeable Foundations
To build unshakeable foundations, we need to focus on what truly matters. We can’t control the external circumstances that surround us, but we can control how we respond to them. As believers, our foundation is built on the rock of Christ, and His Word is the anchor that holds us fast.

Surround us with people who will encourage and support us on our journey. And as we face the challenges of this world, may You be our anchor of hope, holding fast to our hearts and guiding us through the turbulent times.

The #EpiscopalChurch remembers Philip, disciple, evangelist, & deacon on 11 October. So today’s #Gospel reading is Luke 24:13-27 (rather than Matthew). In these passages, the disciples tell a fellow traveler about what has happened to #Jesus from his arrest through crucifixion & the discovery of the empty tomb. They don’t recognize who they are speaking with, even when he describes how Scripture pointed to everything that had occurred.
For me today’s message is that we don’t always realize when God is speaking to us. The Divine rarely shows up wearing a name tag or a t-shirt saying “God” Just because we do not recognize the Divine, doesn’t mean that they are not present & speaking/teaching us. This passage reminds us that the Divine can be anywhere, speaking through anyone. Our challenge is to hear God whenever & wherever God speaks.

Too often we treasure wealth for wealth’s sake rather than for the opportunities it presents to help others & build communities. #Wolfe misses the point, as usual. There's a difference between opposing a genocidal maniac named #Putin while promoting keeping our country's promises (the U.S. committed to protect #Ukraine decades ago in the name of nuclear disarmament) versus prioritizing the "what's in it for me" attitude of so much of domestic politics.
I speak on _issues_, while rejecting partisan affiliation. I'll champion the case of the #unborn, the elderly and, yes, those wrongly oppressed in Ukraine. I'll champion freedom, which includes the freedom to #Evangelize and disciple in the #Gospel.
What you won't see me champion is my preferred tax policy. Or see me constantly get high on outrage porn about whether I'm being persecuted or not. Christians in Ukraine are being persecuted by Putin. Christians in China are being persecuted by Xi.
Christians need to spend more time championing core moral principles of Bible, rather than just culture warring and compromising virtue to "win" said war. Stand for the poor and oppressed. Oppose those who blaspheme Christ by cloaking their murderous regimes with the Cross, e.g. Putin.
