  1. 20 minutes of rowing and 30 minutes of pilates. That's enough for #exercice today. Tomorrow is #SquareDancing and I don't want to be too sore. (The entire time I did pilates I was swearing at myself. I'm back to needing breaks in a set. Annoying. I'll get there. Just have to keep showing up.)

  2. Back to #SquareDancing lessons tonight, after 2 weeks off for the holidays. I'm still messing up calls and honestly, I'm inwardly so angry at myself about it. (Grr, brain!!) I keep feeling like my dancemates are annoyed by it but I know they're not. We all laugh. I'm concerned that guys will stop asking me to dance. Plenty of partners this evening at least.

    Also have to get back on the #KickingTheShitOutOfPOTS train. Choo, choo! It's just been so windy & unpleasantly, bitterly cold. #FuckWinter

  3. #SquareDancing is even more fun when you know the steps. LOL. But I learned that you have to be mindful because the newbies are unpredictable. I skipped one tip because my heart rate was uncomfortably high. It calmed down after a few deep breaths and I got back out there. Next week I'm going to wear better compression. #POTS #KickingTheShitOutOfPOTS

  4. It's a beautiful day. Walked the driveway for 25 minutes. It was exhausting but #SquareDancing lessons start in 2 weeks. Had less sugar today than I did yesterday. #KickingTheShitOutOfPOTS

  5. I need to get back into #KickingTheShitOutOfPOTS. Not today, mind you, but soon. #SquareDancing lessons start back up in a few weeks. I want to have the stamina to do it. Maybe I'll get some yoga stretching in before bed. It's going to make me have DOMS tomorrow but if I can keep momentum going I can get over the excruciating part of rehabbing my body this weekend & start for real next week. #POTS (I know this isn't going to work. I need to start slower. But I don't have the patience.)

  6. I'm embarrassed to say this but I don't remember the last time I rowed. Today I completed a 20 minute beginner row class with #DarkHorseRowing on YT. It felt refreshing. It wasn't easy and my technique was sloppy at times but all in all, it felt great to move my body. I did have the shakes & chills when I got off the rower but that's no surprise. Adrenaline is what it is & a #POTS body is what IT is, so I have to remember that it gets better. Consistency is the key.

  7. I went for a 40 minute walk outside & got my 5500 steps in. Last week was not ideal, not for #KickingTheShitOutOfPOTS. This week I'll do better. Starting today. And if I still fail, I'll make changes. I'm tired again. I had so much energy before Covid in Feb. My body is fighting me again & I'm tired. I'm going to row just 10 minutes. After I row, I'll do 10 minutes of pilates. That makes an hour of exercise & THAT I consider a decent day at the gym. Strap in, kids. Let's row. #DarkHorseRowing

  12. Worked out in an empty house so of course I did it in underwear. #TMI #Sorry Fantastic RowAlong with #DarkHorseRowing. No instruction, just light piano music, slow row- 20 strokes per minute. Wild. Settled in, deep cleansing breaths & just pressed hard & recovered, pressed hard & recovered. It was lovely. I rowed once to a few songs on the #FleetwoodMac Rumors album, but otherwise I've always wanted someone yelling at me. Lol. 🤷‍♀️ Also did upper body weights. #SundayFunday #KickingTheShitOutOfPOTS

  13. Got my row on! 530 strokes in 23 minutes with #DarkHorseRowing. It felt slow in the beginning but by the end I felt strong & powerful.

  14. Workout done. 470-something strokes in 26 minutes but that's a lie because #DarkHorseRowing made me do arms only, then arms & hips only, for many minutes & my machine doesn't count those. No hip tendon clicks, tons of power in the legs. Strong. Did 35 mins of level 1 #Pilates. Again, felt strong. Attempted yoga stretching & I fell apart after 15-20 mins. Food bank kicked my ass earlier so no complaints. 82 #fitbit zone minutes for the day so far.

    If you're a #POTSie, I strongly suggest yoga stretching. I know, I know. Movement hurts. Yup. It does. Start slow but be consistent, even when it hurts. You're deconditioned, not dead. You can do these laying in bed.

    Attempted standing weight training. It didn't go well. Dizzy. Nauseous.

    Feeling #Potsie. It's a hard thing to describe because there's no outward illness. I had a hard time getting out of bed, didn't feel really awake until hours later, my head was swimmy, just... off all morning. But I'm doing so much better now. I'm not going to beat myself up too much over the weights. I'll keep trying! #KickingTheShitOutOfPOTS

  30. Done. 555 #rowing strokes in 27 minutes with #DarkHorseRowing, 35 minutes of #yoga stretching with #YourYogaJourney & 10 minutes balance. Feeling shaky but also strong & bendy.

    (The Your Journey Yoga's instructor is Cheryl. I haven't really praised her enough. She's mellow, encouraging & so restorative. I know there's more popular channels, but she's wonderful.)

  31. Resting heart rate continues to plummet. (It's a good thing.) Highest it's been is 82, 11/16/23. It's down to 74 this morning. Historically it has peaks & valleys- usually high is 79, maybe 80. I can get a low of 69, but usually it's low 70s. Why does it rise? What makes it fall? It is my body just fighting for homeostasis? 82 is concerning. I'm doing everything to be healthy. My HR shouldn't be so high. I wish I could talk to my #cardiologist.

  32. Yesterday I did 30 minutes of #Pilates and cleaned my messy freaking house, which always used to knock me on my ass (literally, I would need to go to bed after.) Today I did 500 #rowing strokes in 27 minutes (new class with #DarkHorseRowing- interval training 💪), 30 minutes of Pilates and 30 minutes of gentle #yoga stretching. Dude. 90 minutes is a solid #workout. I'm proud of myself. Kicking my week off right. Up next- ramen with the family. Sundays are too short.

  33. 520-something strokes #rowing. #DarkHorseRowing has one video on YT that kicks my ass & I can't stop doing it. By the end I can't keep up- he's rowing at a 36 & it makes my heart rate really unhappy so I back off. Not on intensity though. I'm still using just as much force to push the machine away. I question if I'll be able to get up off the machine when it's over. That's when I know I've done good work.

I never would have thought I could do it but I started small- my first few YT classes were 10-15 mins long & there were times that really were uncomfortable. Consistency is key. Keep showing up for yourself. If you can't do 10, shut it off at the 5-7 minute mark. You'll progress. Just keep showing up for yourself. (I guess this is the motivation I was looking for.)

  45. Got a quick #row in: 346 strokes in 19 mins. I also learned a tabata means, which is, Heidi can't breathe. 🤣 #DarkHorseRowing will be the death of me.

    Now that it's fall/winter our wood stove is cranking in the living room (aka my #yoga & #pilates studio) so I may have to reevaluate my set up. With #POTS it's very easy to get overheated quickly & without warning, which can lead to sudden onset of other symptoms. But there's no other TV I can work out in front of.

  46. 555 #rowing strokes in 25 minutes. Intermediate class with #DarkHorseRowing. Probably worked harder than I should but it felt great. My rowing machine is being very loud & clicky again. I don't have the $$ for a new one, crappy or otherwise, so it better knock it the fuck off.

  47. 525 strokes #rowing for 29 minutes. I got frustrated at #DarkHorseRowing's video (my fault, not his) so I shut it off & turned on Fleetwood Mac. Delightful row, challenging myself when my mind wandered into the lyrics to bring me back to my workout. My heart rate isn't as high as I need to be. I think I need to consider going off beta blockers, which is frightening. Two of my most common #POTS symptoms were heart pain & tachycardia. Uncomfortable.

  48. 300 strokes #rowing in 15 minutes. That was something. My legs were on fire. Used another #DarkHorseRowing class. There's other teachers on YT but I'm used to Shane's instructions and he always looks like he's having so much freaking fun.

    Also, my fitbit auto-recognized this as swimming?

    20 minutes of #yoga. Real yoga, like downward dog & stuff. My head hurts. I need a hot bath but I'm afraid I won't be able to get out. Maybe I'll just sit in the shower.

  49. 42 minutes of level 1 #pilates on YT this morning. Great practice. Feeling strong when I step on the mat. Every time I have a workout, regardless of the #exercise, I feel more & more hopeful that I can actually put my #POTS into remission this time. I'm anxious that I have to do a stress test next week with the new #cardiologist. And if I'm being honest, I know I have to start #StrengthTraining & that's when I historically fall off the wagon.

  50. I rested yesterday. I stopped taking my iron supplements last week & it caught up to me. Zero energy.

    Today I did 527 strokes in 27 minutes listening to #DarkHorseRowing on YT. And 20 minutes of stretching yoga. Funny, I was done around 3:00 & was exhausted but now it's almost 6pm & I'm sitting here thinking... I have energy.
