Not a mistake. "Felix Martinez" - that's his full name according to his vet records.
My last name. His first name. Somehow he's a registered voter now.
Called the county clerk.
Me: My cat got summoned for jury duty.
Clerk: Is the name correct on the summons?
Me: Yes, but he's a cat..."

@neil And there was me thinking you could decline #JuryService if you'd *ever* done it before, when in fact it's only if you've done it in the past two years. Another bit of misinformation I must've heard long ago and have probably since spread.

"This is not a Summons," says the postcard that came today. It's just instructions to fill out an online form that may lead to a summons for #JuryDuty. Which is something that will add worry to my life for months to come. Even in the before times, #JuryService would not have been a fun thing for my socially anxious self. But the thought of my asthmatic self having to hang out in a poorly-ventilated room with a bunch of strangers during a #pandemic just makes my skin crawl. I've only left the house for medical appointments since #covid began.
I can only hope my luck holds. The first time I got a jury duty notice, I was in college in another state. I told them I wasn't a resident, and I would be home in July, and they cancelled it. Next was in my thirties, and the judge got ill, so they cancelled again a few days early. Next time was a decade later in winter, and I was ready to head out when they called and said some pipes had burst, so they cancelled again. Let's hope #HVAC fails when it's hot or cold…

I had an unexpected call last week to serve on a jury, but with a #progressive #neuro disease leaving me largely #bedbound and #sleeping up to 18 hours per day I was totally unfit for this. Being in #Scotland I needed a medical letter/certificate from my #GP supporting this. All sorted now, and confirmed today by the #Forfar #court. Thanks so much. Oh it's time to share some background for the "Jen's improbable number of coincidental family jury calls" story, so that you all understand why I'm very interested in my mailbox right now...
In Oct 2016 my brother was called. He wasn't eligible as he was in college, but when we discussed it, I talked about how I thought I was still ineligible to be called because I had been called a few years previous and the exclusion was 7 years. I was wrong about that.
