On another axis, I feel that this and other recent cases show that you need to be white for the media to write about such things... That seems to have also been the feeling of the (mostly brown-skinned) co-detainees of that Canadian woman, who gave her a lot of letters for their respective families, thinking that she'd be released much sooner than them. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/mar/19/canadian-detained-us-immigration-jasmine-mooney

Her experience is making international news, and I won't be surprised if more countries issue advisories against traveling to the U.S. after this. As I commented, I'm hopeful that her status as a conventionally attractive white Canadian woman brings more attention to the plight of others unjustly detained.

Her experience is making international news, and I won't be surprised if more countries issue advisories against traveling to the U.S. after this. As I commented, I'm hopeful that her status as a conventionally attractive white Canadian woman brings more attention to the plight of others unjustly detained.
