New Report Helps #Journalists Dig Deeper Into Police #Surveillance Tech

A new report released today offers journalists tips on cutting through the sales hype about police surveillance tech & report accurately on costs, benefits, #privacy , & #accountability as these invasive & often ineffective tools come to communities across the nation.

The “Selling Safety” report is a joint project of the EFF, the Center for Just #Journalism (CJJ), and #IPVM.

Is it too much to dream of the @ICANN of #AI #knowledge, a global "web" (network) connecting all freely available information for the public benefit of all? Fortunately the infrastructure is already there, largely untapped (i.e. ahead of its time: #IPFS #IPVM

#CERN: Here's a #winwin proposal: #physicists keep smashing particles, and downtime compute power feeds a distributed #AI #LLM network freely accessible to any/everyone (kinda like #Zenodo is for research/data storage now).

Even better...a custom #model that lets me run natural #language queries on your data so I can prove the #infoton exists.

Seems a logical #evolution to me, the nascent backbone of which exists (see #IPVM, and distributed comp isn't new: #SETI)

Is there an #opensource backed standard for annotating others’ webpages?

I’m thinking specifically being able to tag others’ sites with #IndieWeb h-cards (eg. Adding machine readable event tags to pages like this: https://www.ewanbleach.com/events)

or something more fancy, like letting me attach (#ipvm runnable?) WASM to that page that will extract an iCal file.

I want to make microformats and standard metadata more available without everyone having to get on board.

Fission received an $800,000 grant to continue its work on IPVM from the Arcological Association and the IPFS Network Capital Pool.

IPVM is bringing decentralized Wasm computation to content-addressed data, and we could not be more excited about its potential.
