  1. Good Monday morning everyone!

I wonder what these little cuties are? They are in our woods in Nova Scotia, seen on our walk the other day.

iNaturalist has no idea, at least from this photo.

Edit: My friend Dan, @danmccullough has suggested it is possibly one of the Lepiota, with the heat having created the frilled effect.

Every walk in the woods is different, no matter how often you do the same one!

Enjoy your day as you can, friends. And keep your eyes peeled (my father's favourite expression) because you never know what you might see if you do.

  2. Just wanted to see as I remember it, something beautiful in my stream. Hope you like it too. I’ve no idea what kind of ornamental grass this is. From West Grove, PA 10/31/21. #Plants #Green #Grass #IDplease

  3. Okay funghi friends, are these oyster mushrooms, do you think?

They are growing from an old stump which is buried underground now.

We have finally had some rain and these have appeared.

I might have left some from last year over this spot so the spores could fall there. But are these good to eat I wonder?

  4. Happy Monday all!

I'm not too sure what to think of this little fellow. If it's a tree hopper, is that bad news? I was careful not to harm it, but maybe it's aiming to destroy my trees?

If it's not a hopper, what is it? My first search on INaturalist came up with it being a plant bug (or something equally vague). Well duh...

The next search thinks it's a tree hopper.

So here's a #MondayMystery for the bug people among us. #IDplease
    And thank you!

  5. CW: Spider photo for ID

Any of y'all entomologists want to reassure me this spider is harmless? Since I don't know the fauna of this area, I have no idea.

Location: a kitchen in Tirana, #Albania

Size, a bit under 1 cm, I think. Photo taken with 10x magnification loupe on an iPhone lens.

  6. Some sort of small pink flower with five petals. The entire plant is about the size of my hand and low to the ground. The flower itself is about the size of my pinky nail.

    What is it?

  7. So far the only things close enough or slow enough for me to get photos of in #Albania are pest species or species that survive or even thrive in human-disturbed environments.

I'm not sure whether this is a flying ant or a termite.. Totally out of my depth on insect ID.

iPhone photo taken through 10x loupe. #IDplease

  8. I’d like to know an ID for this type of ornamental tree used in architectural plans with businesses in the US Southwest. This is in Phoenix near the Banner Estrella Medical Center. Next post will be a fun one - a self-portrait in a closeup of the peeling bark. #Phoenix #Arizona #Tree #IDplease

  9. Lacewing eggs? This is a copper plant tag that was in the backyard.

  11. This message is brought to you by your local Morell Majority.

My phone is pretty certain of species ID, but I'm not confident enough to pick and cook them. Any mushroom experts care to weigh in? #morel #mushroom #IDplease #mycology
