15/15 In the end, for me personally #IDFA is a way to recharge, intellectually and emotionally. The films are sometimes tough to watch or confronting, showing violence, conflict, distress and discrimation but also showing great humanity, courage, resilience, beauty and humour. The films add huge depth to the daily headlines and one-liners. I wish we could increase documentary audiences by finding ways to make them free of rights, for any to watch online and use in education. They deserve that.

With our relaxed schedule this year we did a lot of walking Amsterdam's streets, but other years we used bikes to reach venues in time. The #IDFA festival's organisation is done by 560 volunteers and programmers. Timing is strict, tech always flawless. There are many sections, subprogrammes, rewards etc, but I am indifferent to those.
