  1. @wdsouth hi, Will! I love #MTG and I got into #Netrunner recently.

I also really want to get a group going for playing an adaptation of #AsphaltAndTrouble for #IcyNSR, a #TTRPG system I made for being tactical and crunchy while being extremely beginner-friendly.

If you want to play online, it would be a banger.

  2. #dungeon23 entry for #IcyNSR, inspired by "the Wyrm of Brandonsford" adventure.

  3. I want to draw inspiration from this to add to the tactical espionage rules for #IcyNSR...

  4. Today's supporitng #dungeon23 entry: #IcyNSR rules hosted online!

    icy.memorici.de/

    Easy to look stuff up.

  5. Here's a #dungeon Jan 20th entry, also part of #IcyNSR. This one features #morale and #fear rules as well as a full statement of opportunity attack rules.

  6. Supporting #dungeon23 Jan 19th entry!

Brawler and #flanking. Note how flanking doesn't give any bonuses out of the box, but if players want to play with it, here are the rules for them to enjoy. They can design abilities that rely or become better with flanking!

Also, bind and wind (which is a very principled medieval fencing move!) is the first rule in #IcyNSR that refers to a rule that's on another non-core card 🤫

  7. Feb 1st supporting #dungeon23 is an #OSE (sorry, mom) spell "Liquid Manipulation".

It was way harder to come up with interesting semantics for it, but actually writing stuff for OSE is so much easier than for #IcyNSR.

#OSR games, as opposed to #NSR games have wordiness in their DNA, and writing wordy texts is a breeze!

Also, don't worry, I remember that I owe January some #dungeon23 content, I'll publish more #IcyNSR backlog soon. If someone wants to run an #IcyNSR session, feel free to reach out to me for all the rule cards in one place and in a hyperlinked format. It's rules-distributed (kinda rules light, but you can hand out the rules on demand to your players, making them the lawyers of some marginal mechanics they asked for to have fun), crunchy, tactical and ready to play.

  8. Here's my #dungeon23 Jan 18th entry. Grapple mechanics made fun in #IcyNSR. No opposed rolls, just difficult martial artist (strength) checks and still a fun and meaninful tactical mini-game! And, in the best tradition of #IcyNSR, some combat moves that are relevant to the rules.

  9. @bluetyson ahhh I want to learn more! I've superficially researched meso-American cultures for #IcyNSR starter deck to make sure that I'm getting inspired by more than just European cultures and designing for everyone.

  10. January 15th supporting #dungeon23 entry. Wolffolk, morale, fear and charm. A double-sided #IcyNSR feature collection along with some game rules.

  11. January 14th supporting #dungeon23 entry. A meso-american inspired spy feature collection. An #IcyNSR single-sided index card.

  12. January 13th supporting #dungeon23 entry. "A Deckhand" feature collection. An #IcyNSR single-sided index card.

  13. Wrapping it up for the day, will do my best to catch up with "ongoing" by posting #IcyNSR content over the course of this week.

  14. January 12th #dungeon entry: "an elementalist" #IcyNSR feature collection. Single-sided index card.

  15. January 11th #dungeon23 entry: an #IcyNSR feature collection. Single-sided index card "a digger".

  16. Catching up with #dungeon23 vacation. January 10th entry: the ALPHA2 version of the Character Creation #IcyNSR double-sided index card.

  17. I didn't post #dungeon23 in a while.

That's because in my free time, I'm redoing typesetting for #IcyNSR. It comes together well, I think.

  18. @hexedpress #Pendragon is the system that I found out about while trying to understand how ridiculous of an idea is it to omit "mental capability stats" such as "wisdom" and "intelligence" in a player-skill-based system (which my #IcyNSR is). It was really awesome to learn that I'm not alone in that school of design. I ended up having four stats:

    - Strength
    - Dexterity
    - Build (~ Constitution)
    - Cool (~ Charisma + Willpower)

  19. In #IcyNSR, which is an #NSR-style #TTRPG I'm working on, everyone and everything has a capability to take 6 stress (basically, 7 HP).

Some abilities are guaranteed to inflict stress, but cost stress.

This facilitates player skill so well, I'm telling you. Try it.

  20. I'm planning to just "ship it" when it comes to #dungeon23. No typesetting, no overcomplicating, no proofreading. Just pure hand-crafted goodness, which should inform the content for the first #IcyNSR adventures.

I'm also stretching the format quite a bit, but whatever.

  21. It's a slushy January afternoon. No wonder the car didn't arrive for you. Hailing a cab is out of question, not with your cargo and in your condition. So you rush across Kensington, your shoes squelching what's left of the white stuff...

Something you overhear as you walk past a Kensington tea house:

"Fancy some import tea? Better stockpile it! With the damned war and everything."

"Good thing we shall always have Sri Lanka, at least..."

    #dungeon23 #IcyNSR

  22. From now on, I'll only post spoiler-free #dungeon23 content. Some people are already eager to playtest my stuff. So I'm gonna make Kensington module over the course of the next couple of weeks. It probably means that some days I'll be posting #IcyNSR rules, formatted as #dungeon23 entries.

  23. @hexedpress I hope you'll show *how is it actually an INDEX CARD system*. I have failed to understand it from a brief look :)

Also, so weird to see the original name of my #IcyNSR project and realise that it's not it, haha.

Some day, I hope, you'll review the true index card RPG system!

  24. Continuing #dungeon23 for #IcyNSR content.

Location briefs and four events that can happen in a hill village by Sedan on 2nd of January, 1939.

    #TTRPG

  25. @Smcc @lumpley

    I'll just yeet them all?

    1. 636 (a Latvian network of shops which was ahead of its time)
    2. #OSRQ / #NSRQ
    3. Probably, Drizzt, but very close to "none".
    4. D&D 3.5 (2003)
    5. Must be #3.5e, but #Whitehack is getting close to overtaking it thanks to regular play.
    6. #LtGarlic, my current OSRQ character. 3d6 down the line generation forced me to play something I didn't want, and I loved being forced to explore them.
    7. #OSE and #LabyrinthLord.
    8. Loved 3.5e for non-cheesy art. I love 5e art as well, but not the Monster Manual. I think, 3.5e overall.
    9. Anything by Luka. Let's say, #Longwinter, could just as well be #UVG.
    10. No
    11. I am now!
    12. Of course.
    13. Nope.
    14. Probably, any giant stag beetle summoning tool from 3.5e. It felt degenerate. I don't know, I don't care for items too much.
    15. Currently, I'm a friend with a kobold, who comes to adventures with us. He's cool, but he grabs the loot.
    16. I don't collect anything, no. But I buy everything @bradkerr publishes to run it.
    17. My own #IcyNSR system.
    18. Probably a nazi mage from a fictional organisation with a civil-service front called "the directory of the souls".
    19. No idea what it means.
    20. Mom's friend's son who was my childhood friend got the D&D 3.0 starter kit in 2002. There was no coming back.
