This art installation overlooks the Djúpivogur Harbor. It honors a freed slave, Hans Jonathan, who became a successful merchant here in the late 1700's. Nearly every town that we visited had meaningful sculptures in place. There are so many stories to be told here and the Icelandic people love to share those stories through works of art.
