When on the Snaefellsness Penisula, one must stop at the Black Church in Budir. Get there early before the bus tours! This was our first stop of the day and there was only one other person here.

Most images I see of Jokulsarlon are intimate iceberg shots. I really loved how this came out. I captured this to show the vastness of the lagoon. The kayakers really give scale to this image!

Closer look at Kvernufoss Waterfall in Southern Iceland. Kvernufoss is quite close to Skogafoss but many people overlook this waterfall due to the short hike it requires to see it.

Kvernufoss is the less known neighbor of Skogafoss in southern Iceland. Since it requires a little hike to get to, the bus tours don't usually include this beautifull waterfall. It makes for quieter experience than other popular waterfalls.

This was the first time that I have ever seen a glacier up close! We passed this pool as we hiked closer to Svinafellsjokull glacier. It was so beautiful and peaceful there. There was one other car in the lot, but we never saw anyone!

One of the things I loved about traveling Iceland in a campervan and not with a tour was the ability to pull over a when we saw sights just like this beautiful waterfall from the Ring Road.

This art installation overlooks the Djúpivogur Harbor. It honors a freed slave, Hans Jonathan, who became a successful merchant here in the late 1700's. Nearly every town that we visited had meaningful sculptures in place. There are so many stories to be told here and the Icelandic people love to share those stories through works of art.

We visited the town of Djúpivogur in eastern Iceland. I just loved coming across these little towns with colorful streets. This building is one of the oldest commercial buildings in Iceland dating to the 1790's.
