  1. 07/05/2026 - Day off work. We had a long walk over the two hills within Aberdeen city boundary, Tyrebagger Hill & Brimmond Hill. 14 miles taken slow. We were out about 9 hours. We don't rush for nothing. Even managed to visit 3 cafes, which I think is good going for a single walk. Sunshine for the most part and the rain held off. Not many humans about too which is always a good thing. Nice wild flowers and plenty of birds. It's nice walking round here.

  2. 02/03/2025 - Hill of Tillymorgan. Slowly making my way round the Humps of Aberdeenshire after sunset. As usual we made the top a bit early so sat and had our tea and spent an hour chatting and watching the sun slowly go down. It's not a big hill but the view all round of Aberdeenshire from the trigpoint is pretty great.

  3. 02/01/2024 - We waited for the afternoon and the rain to ease. It did a little but it was still a bit of a wet walk. 10 mile round trip to visit the two hills within the boundary of Aberdeen. I always like to visit these two Humps early each year. We didn't see many folk, no surprise considering the weather. The ground everywhere is sodden. Forecast looks the same again tomorrow. It should have been a rubbish walk but we both really enjoyed it!

  4. 06/11/2023 - Morning stroll up Craigendarroch before we had to head home after a nice weekend away. The name means ‘Hill of Oaks’ and at this time of year the trees look just wonderful in the sunshine. Such lovely late autumn colours, golds, yellows and reds against the blue sky above.

  5. 04/11/2023 - After sunset visit to Geallaig Hill. It has been a tough few weeks weather wise and life in general. It felt so good to be out walking again. This a fine hill with a good loop from Glen Gairn. We reached the top at pretty much sunset. Misty and a cold wind. We sat by the cairn, had our tea and waited for the dark. A few stars on the way back down but the mist and clouds didn't clear much. It was a chilly visit but just what we needed.

  6. 01/09/2023 - Sunset visit to Meluncart. A lovely sunny walk up Glen Dye and the Water of Charr to finally climb Meluncart. Not much track to the top so a little tricky in the dark on the way back. We reached the top just before sunset and plonked ourselves down in the heather to have our tea and watch the sky go dark. Big moon and lovely stars. Heading down, once at the main track again, we turned our torches off and walked by moonlight. Back by 1am. A wonderful walk.

  11. 27/06/2023 - A sunny day at the top of Britain. I'd been looking forward to this one for ages. A visit to Hermaness Hill in Unst, the most northerly Hump (hills with a drop of 100 metres or more on all sides) in Britain. Felt a long way from Tregonning Hill in Cornwall (the most southern Hump, 1225km away, give or take a few km) which we visited around 10 years back. We'd hoped for a sunny day and it turned out perfect. A magic day to remember.
