Teddy Edwards / Howard McGhee - Together Again!!!!
Hopefully I got the number of exclamation points right. Wouldn’t want to mix this up with other albums.
Edwards & McGhee had been friends for years, and with McGhee off drugs (briefly), they got together and recorded this great album in 1961 along with Phineas Newborn Jr. (piano), Ray Brown (bass), and Ed Thigpen (drums).
Really nice new remastering/pressing by Craft & QRP.

Coleman Hawkins and His Orchestra, Hollywood Stampede, 1972 on Capitol
Seventies reissue – volume 5 in the Capitol Jazz Classics series – with songs taken from sessions in February and March of 1945. Great classic jazz here as bop or bebop was […]

Howard McGhee - Maggie's back in town!!
Since being "demoted" on the cover by Bags, I figured I’d grab this recent Craft/AS release of a 1961 session with him as a leader.
Very enjoyable - McGhee is in great form ("Maggie" is him, back after drug issues), Manne is having fun on the drums, Newborn's on piano and Vinnegar on bass.

Howard McGhee and Milt Jackson / Milt Jackson & Howard McGee
1947 session released in 1955 on Savoy, recorded when McGhee was a leading light in the bop/hard bop movement. It's clearly his album, but Jackson appears on 8 tracks (as do Percy Heath, Ray Brown and other luminaries).
Years later, on re-release in France, Milt gets featured ahead of Howard, who doesn't even get a picture.
(Original Savoy release signed by Milt Jackson.)
