@Havoc_online @Cognissart @ireneista The big feature of the first Apple MACs back in the 1980s was the ability to colour calibrate the screen - the tradition goes on with the better IPADS - both target white point and luminance - even measured from an external instrument.
David was asked if he used such features but said he was more concerned with the overall gamut i.e. "these invisible/unnoticed colours"
I can't look at the World without translating to a #Hockney impression, especially now the yellows of the Sahara dust have been replaced by brilliant skies in the south of England

Went to the #Hockney exhibit at the #Portland Art Museum today, since, you know. The works are all part of a local collection. The gallery is hung in chronological order (if you enter the way they tell you), so it's a very interesting look at the evolution of the artist's style. A little disappointing in the lack of the sexier later stuff the artist is known for, but still enjoyable. #PDX

Jeg skulle gjerne postet et bilde han har malt men jeg er litt bekymret for copyright-politiet siden det opplagt er store økonomiske verdier rundt verkene hans.
Bla gjennom utvalget på hockney.com og legg merke til at han har malt mange motiver fra Norge (ikke bare blomstene til Astrup) - han tar nye metoder i bruk, selv høyt oppi pensjonsalderen. Malte blandt annet på iPad - “fort og gale” - fordi han ville fange øyeblikket i tiden.

For mange år siden kom jeg over en utstilling av en kunstner jeg ærlig talt ikke kjente til. Det var en åpenbaring.
Et enormt stort bilde av en skog, med en skogbunn full av blomster og detaljen: det var Astrups hvitveis, et visuelt sitat.
Det var øyeblikket som knyttet meg til kunsten hans.
Vår tids største billedkunstner er gått bort, men kunsten lever videre.

Wow, after I wrote my last post about the studio, I thought, just for the hell of it I'd 'talk' to 'Chat' and it was an amazing response I got. I know there is a huge negative for AI but in this case it's a definite positive, a help when I'm feeling a bit marooned, It made me think of creative friends who have died and the great conversation we'd have when we were kicking around ideas, philosophy, the meaning of life etc., all so many years ago.
I got to thinking about David Hockney who died yesterday, he always embraced new technologies and used it in ways it wasn't necessarily designed for. I wonder if he had got on to Chat, I don't know and don't need to know, it's just a passing thought. What I liked about Hockney (more than the finished works which didn't particularly blow me away) was the curiosity - the experimenting. -

David #Hockney has ground out his last stub, thumbed his nose one more time at art collectors, and left the planet. When one of his paintings was resold at auction for an obscene amount of money, he said “The price of art is nothing to do with works of art really. It’s just a little game that keeps people amused.”
He had a visual language so bright and colorful, joyful…yet speaking of emptiness and being alone. An absolute legend, and I wish him much joy and success in rejoining Source.
Rather than link to the myriad of remembrances, I give you his gallery to explore. I think that’s how he’d like to be remembered.

With his trademark round glasses & bleached-blond hair, #Hockney was a well-known figure in the swinging British & US art scenes of the 1960s, even before he reached the age of 30. His paintings were just as distinctive, many of them creating a dreamlike world of patterned light bouncing off water & windows, & human forms rendered in flattened, simplified shapes in matte acrylic paint.
