Been mildly depressed so I decided I'd thread the needle of familiarity, repetition and novelty and do two parallel runs of Shing Jea, first on Ritualist, then on Assassin.
I don't think there's awfully much to say about Ritualist. It's just good. Having an easy mix of party-wide protection spirits and great damage output from offensive spirits makes it super smooth to play. Especially since a Factions character has relatively limited Hero access, and none at all on Shing Jea.
For the Assassin, I took them down A/R and Critical Strikes/Marksmanship. To mix it up, I did all the "profession sampler" questlines before committing to Ranger, and the lack of early access to Shadow Arts and Critical Strikes survivability and energy management definitely makes it rough. Once you have access to Critical Eye and the rest of your Shadow Arts tools though, Critical Bow is extremely safe, comfortable and easy to play. In some ways it feels slightly worse than the turbo blender damage pumping of daggers, but I'll take comfort any day.
The worst thing now is having to get halfway through Factions to get my greedy little mitts on Barrage, lol. I guess it's as bad for Ritualist since you don't get Signet of Spirits naturally until the storyline split.
I think after my Assassin finishes Shing Jea I'll move on to taking a Dervish through Istan, something I'm looking forward to. I've never played Dervish at all before, aside from a janky P/D scythe spammer I tried during Wayfarer's Reverie, which was awful to play due to no shadowstep balling.

Man, I don't have nearly as many #guildwars1 screenshots as I thought I did. For instance, I have over 2,000 screenshots in GW2 and only about 200 in GW1.
I guess somewhere down the line I realized how important it was to capture all these "memories". But here have a look at Augury Rock out in the Crystal Desert. Later tonight I'll go in GW2 and grab a shot.
Also, I need to convert all of these to PNG. GW1 only used to take BMP lol.

So the reason I went digging around is that last night I couldn't resist one of the armor skins that I found on the gem store, True Assassin's Guise, which is an updated armor skin from #GuildWars1 which I had. I might try and see if I can make my Thief look like my Assassin from way back in the day.
