I’ve now finished playing Guild Wars 2—and most likely not just for the time being, but for good.

I had a wonderful time in that fictional world over the last few years, mostly on my own because that’s what I wanted. 😉

Right now and going forward, I’m focusing on games that are mostly single-player, with only the occasional co-op title—that’s what I enjoy these days.

Transport Fever 2 (and soon 3), as well as Astroneer and Helldivers 2, have been the games I’ve enjoyed the most over the past few years.

There are also a few “roguelike” titles, but those are just occasional diversions for me when I want to do something relatively mindless. 😁

Guild Wars 2 habe ich nun für mich beendet und sehr wahrscheinlich nicht nur wieder sondern für immer.

War eine schöne Zeit welche ich in dieser fiktiven Welt verbracht habe während der letzten paar Jahre, meistens alleine weil so gewollt. 😉

Daneben existieren zwar noch einige "Rogue Like" -Titel, diese sind jedoch nur gelegentliche Aktionen für mich wenn ich mal relativ stumpf irgendwas machen will. 😁

So I think I've changed mains in #GW2 after a month on the Ranger.

At best I was getting 13-14k dps with Longbow, and about the same with the Greatsword. So today I rolled up a Mechanist Engineer, gathered enough Hero Points to fill the tree and got some gear.

Result? Easier rotation and 27k DPS!

In this one, she's engaged in Commander things and making a full scale one-charr assault on an Inquest lab that has been up to some war crime shenanigans, backed by her jade sentry. She has its AI tied to her headset so she can give vocal commands to initiate pre-programmed attack sequences, or simply to keep it on-track if it starts to go after the wrong objective. This happens more often than you might think in battles without a single focus - just ask any experienced mechanist!

Also, as this was going to be a close quarters fight, she chose to bring her HOPE(Hylek Optimized Projectile Experiment) pistols to provide some added flexibility. In a more open or longer ranged battlefield, she instead might opt for her rifle, which I've yet to have her depicted with.

I started playing #GW2 exactly one month ago, and I've already pumped 100 hours into it!

That's an average of 25hrs per week! That's nearly as many hours as I work in a week 😂

After a mere half decade or so of casual gaming, I got my first legendary item in #GuildWars2 - the HMS Divinity.

My printer recently offered to try a "Rainbow Holographic" cover test for me!

They normally don't do this type of lamination for their perfect-bound books, but seemed as curious as I was if it'd work for "The Harbinger's Path"

@massivelyop as much fun as I have had in #gw2 #wvw it really did get stale. Players just zerging from one point to the next hardly ever having an actual fight was a bit silly. Occasionally a couple of zergs would collide but it really wasn't great gameplay. Hopefully the smaller scale combat improves that

Seems to be quite a lot of people have kinda just fallen into #guildwars2 over the past few weeks, obviously including myself!

Reminds me of the time we all started playing FFXIV at the same time around the end of Shadowlands IIRC. I eventually fell off that game because I wasn't playing it enough to justify the sub fee, and the MSQ was seemingly interminable.

#GW2 is different though IMO. No sub fee makes a huge difference to me, and means I can feel free to dip in and out of it at will, until I eventually hit retirement from WoW, whereupon I'll move full time to Tyria methinks, be it GW2, #guildwars3 or more likely, both!

I'll get my Ranger to 80, have a play about with some endgame systems, then either start casually levelling a Necromancer, or use one of the 5 level 80 boosts I have available to me! Must've got them in birthday bags on old characters, and I know I got some with the expansion purchases too...

Either way, it'll be a lot more chill than the usual seasonal scramble for gear advantage for the few weeks in every tier in WoW.

I did this week’s jumping puzzle in #GuildWars2 all by myself. I feel so accomplished, as I am normally terrible at this kind of gameplay. Although there were a few spots where the hitbox of the floor was a little generous, as I landed near an edge and had a good portion of both feet in thing air.

I don't have a property MMO currently so I'll just think of the ones that are out there. #wow would be the jocks doing what they want despite the suggestions they would be better off doing their homework once in a while. #ffxiv is the rich preps, sticking their nose up at others believing they're better than you. #eso is also sitting with the jocks but more like that dork that isn't really cool but wants to think they are. #gw2 is naturally the kid

Seeing Guild Wars chatter lately reminded me I might still have a GW2 account, also wondered whether it would run on my Linux setup, so installed it through Steam and it runs just fine under Proton.

I have a level 10 character which I haven't touched in approximate 13 years, and no idea what I'm doing.

Just realized I haven't posted this here! A few days ago, I reached a point while drawing “Nightmare’s Embrace” where I need Lorcan's outfit to be consistent, instead of trying to imagine what it is from looking at screens & past drawings.

I tried drawing a loose ref for myself to decide his design. It immediately helped me with a panel involving him, where I couldn't have his arm look proper before because I was undecided on how the outfit for his arm/shoulder should look.

And generally, those are the sorts of decisions you shouldn't be still deciding upon on the page (or illustration), haha.

Stayed up way too late playing #GuildWars2. Finished up Path of Fire/Living World Season 4 and am now on to Icebrood Saga.

I'm pretty far behind storywise, but that's fine because I can still log in and go most places and do most world content, which is really what I'm around for. I have been dabbling in SotA to try and work towards getting a skyscale that I can use everywhere, but finding an egg is slow business.

For #charrsday I've got a couple pieces of one of my other charr gals to share, both by CanisCappuccino(https://www.furaffinity.net/user/caniscappuccino/)!

This is Athena Ghostalker, sniper for the Blood Legion. She's a middle-aged charr from Rytlock's generation, and a bit of a grump unless she has either mead in hand, or guns to discuss or work on. You see, she's a bit of a gun nut, and has customized her gear extensively. Her prized rifle was actually meant to be a display piece when she originally won it at a sharpshooting contest during the bicentennial celebration of Kalla Scorchrazor's victory, but she retrofitted it to something actually as capable as any Legion-made combat rifle, if not more so. If its a gun, it damn well better work, in her opinion!

While her primary loyalty is to the Legions, she has been on extended deployment with the Pact for a while now, having seen combat in Maguuma, Elona, and Cantha, among other places. She even picked up a few tricks from a chronomancer while trying to survive the jungles during the Mordremoth campaign.

While her main calling is as a sharpshooter, she is often pulled into close combat, where she uses those tricks to distort the flow of time slightly; just enough to give her and her fellow warriors a slight edge. Doing so takes enough concentration that she usually relies on her paired pistols instead in those fights.

(In game terms, she's a Deadeye thief that I normally run as QDPS, unless I need to pylon on Qadim in raid wing 7. Typically I run Unload in group combat, but I have Predator on her back bar too.)

While her main calling is as a sharpshooter, she is often pulled into close combat, where she uses those tricks to distort the flow of time slightly; just enough to give her and her fellow warriors a slight edge. Doing so takes enough concentration that she usually relies on her paired pistols instead in those fights.

(In game terms, she's a Deadeye thief that I normally run as QDPS, unless I need to pylon on Qadim in raid wing 7. Typically I run Unload in group combat, but I have Predator on her back bar too.)

Laranthir of the Wild - paintover warm-up

One of my favorite parts about playing the "Mouth of Mordremoth" meta is hearing Laranthir fiercely shouting orders at my sylvari throughout the battle. The VA is too good!

If we can have Taursday, why not #charrsday?

This is my main in Guild Wars 2, a charr mechanist named Glitch Sootpaw. The charr are a militaristic steampunk feline race(for those unfamiliar with them), and for a long time as an Engineer(actual in-game class) and member of the charr's Iron Legion, she had been working on autonomous weapons. She started with deployable independent turrets, then (offscreen only, since I went straight to the Mechanist subclass) learned to make drones called gyros, but those were still single-function and limited, and she was never able to get full unfettered access to Asura golems to tear one apart and truly see how they worked.

Eventually her adventures took her to the cyberpunk-looking jadepunk land of Cantha, which had advanced technology powered by magical jade which had been charged with Elder Dragon essence(which is a Thing that would need its own explanation). They were also less exclusive with their tech, and she finally was able to build her Jade Sentry, run by a primitive AI and powered by a dragon-jade reactor.

In this image, she's back in an Iron Legion workshop, doing some maintenance on one arm while it tries to peek over her shoulder, not understanding what she's doing. Her Canthan Jade Bot helper is doing its best to help too!
