If you're running Gnome and like laying out your windows flexibly according to grids, but on the other hand are not cool enough for using a tiling window manager, gTile might be something for you: https://github.com/gTile/gTile

I've just realized a lovely thing about #Fedora 41 - since they've replaced original gnome-terminal app for #ptyxis as default, I'm no longer annoyed by the terminal app not respecting proper #gtile setup 🤩 The app window just stays the same size and place no matter what I do - old gnome terminal just didn't stick, I've opened a new tab and suddenly the whole window grew a few pixels up etc.
Yes, I am neurodivergent, thank you for noticing. -
If you run a #Gnome-based desktop on your #Linux computer and you're not using #gTile, why?

(Really great for easy resizing of windows w/o having to use the mouse)

And update to this: I'm now using #GNOME on #Wayland and the #gTile extension to move windows into their places after they've been flown around after a monitor disconnection. It's not ideal but I can work with this for now. I tried #AwesomeWM but for some reason it detected my monitor as being larger than it is and I don't know enough xrandr to fix it. I also looked at #SwayWM but it doesn't want to run because I have the proprietary Nvidia drivers installed (even though I'm not using that GPU) -- but the laptop refuses to boot if I use just Nouveau. Maybe I'll give it another look later, if I can know how to make #GDM add the "run even if Nvidia" flag to Sway.
I switched to Wayland so that #Alacritty scaling works correctly, and it seems everything else I use works on Wayland already, like screen sharing.
