@gerowen 12 tb seems huge but when you think you need to put image and snapshots from multiple pc it quickly gets a lot smaller. for biz I like the dual nas setup with faster networking, dual port connect-x 56g cards are like 50 bucks - you can do point to point from a ws to dual nas and then have 2 ports left to sync nas quick - i think it is the ideal setup for smb sector where they need 5 nines uptime and backups of their backups essentially #mission critical data #guymager #timeshift #samba #nfs #sshfs #grsync #tech consulting praxis

i really would like unlocked rooted phone plus otg for rj45 and power at same time and can use blueteeth kb plus mouse - that would be ideal - could image and run android in proxmox for setting things up at home instead of working on phone itself #grsync

Probably need to know your OS in order to make any recommendations.I use #cryptomator and google drive for my work docs. I then use #Grsync (a graphical front end for rsync) to mirror my home folder to external hard drives.

#Grsync is a "graphical" version of #rsync. Might be useful, even just for seeing the options of rsync arranged differently.The -a option is for #archive mode and preserves #permissions, #symlinks, #dates, #ownership (eg #chown). If our records are correct, you can do the same with the individual options (-rlptgoD) but pls double-check.
If there are files/folders you want to exclude (too big, temp files or you want to #encrypt separately etc) look into '--exclude-from' option.

Backing up the HDD and listening to podcasts in the meantime. I use #Grsync and do the backup one subfolder of my homedir (recursively) at a time, just in case anything weird happens.
This is especially helpful when syncing my music collection, inter alia.
