A very typical image of a horse-mounted herdsman on the Great Hungarian Plain or puszta. Known as 'csikós' in Hungarian, they display great horsemanship— not to mention great whip-handling abilities too. They occupy a similar position to that of the American cowboy in Hungarian consciousness. Goulash, authentically a meat soup, originated from them as a one of their typical meals.

Made Goulash for these cold days. Extra spicy :ablobcatbongo:
Goulash with beef and a little bacon. A standard recipe with caraway and majoram, onion, bell pepper, carrot, potato, fresh and canned tomato and of course chilis.
I used for 1 kg 2.2lb meat fresh:
2x 7-pot Barrackpore
3 Scotch brain yellow
1 tsp Cayenne powder and 2 tsp sweetpepper for some smokey aroma.

It was a cracker day in Te Whanganui-a-Tara today and the Hungarian Picnic out at Avalon was a great success. Lots of delicious food, long lines at the "fried bread", aka lángos, food truck, and everyone just enjoying Wellington on a very good day. The bab guylás, aka bean goulash, sold out much quickly than expected. It was delicious!

There's no fully organic #breakfast, but butter, jam, cereals and honey are. -
