@samuelpepys #London, #Ware, #Buntingford, #Godmanchester, #Brampton and #Hinchingbrooke. So strange to read of a journey hundreds of years ago that is not so different today in some ways. And yet in other ways is so different and has been superseded by the A1, M11/A14/A1307 and the East Coast Main Line. #Hertfordshire #Huntingdonshire

In #Hunts there are similar roadworks between #Huntingdon and #Godmanchester and between #StIves and #Fenstanton. The main difference is that the former set actually has people working in it, yet only the latter set has signs lowering the speed limit.

I'm sure at some point I've suggested somewhere that there's some sense in treating the run of settlements along the #GreatOuse from #StIves to #Brampton (and onwards to #StNeots if you're feeling optimistic) as a single "Ouse Valley Urban Area". They're all fairly interlinked, have many similarities and would benefit from a unified voice, especially in the context of local government reorganization. #OuseValley #OuseValleyUrbanArea #Huntingdon #Godmanchester
