Oggi l'aeronautica militare ucraina ha effettuato un attacco aereo con bombe americane #GBU39 ad alta precisione su una base di plotone nella regione di Kursk. Lo ha detto il comandante dell'aeronautica militare ucraina #Oleschuk, come riporta Ukrainska Pravda. "Sono stati colpiti il posto di comando della base dell'aeronautica militare, l'unità nemica, l'equipaggiamento, le armi e fino a 40 militari russi", ha detto.

Sarebbero in tutti 79 i caccia #F16 destinati all'aviazione di Kiev. Lo riferisce oggi l'Economist, specificando che dieci sono in #Ucraina dallo scorso 31 luglio (ma secondo il Times di Londra sarebbero solo sei), altrettanti arriveranno entro fine anno, i mancanti nel corso del 2025. Sarebbero equipaggiati di missili aria-aria avanzati, missili antiradiazioni ad alta velocità, bombe guidate #GBU39, più piccole delle equivalenti russe ma molto più precise e a più lungo raggio.

The GBU-39/B Small Diameter Bomb (SDB) is a 250-pound (110 kg) precision-guided glide bomb that is intended to provide aircraft with the ability to carry a higher number of more accurate bombs. Most US Air Force aircraft will be able to carry (using the BRU-61/A rack) a pack of four SDBs in place of a single 2,000-pound (910 kg) bomb. It first entered service in 2006. The Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb (GLSDB) was later developed to enable the SDB to be launched from a variety of ground launchers and configurations.

Il sistema GLSDB potrebbe essere consegnato già nella primavera del 2023, secondo un documento esaminato dall'agenzia. Come riporta anche il Guardian, esso combina la GBU-39 Small Diameter Bomb (#SDB) con il motore a razzo #M26, entrambi comuni negli inventari statunitensi.
