Jim Thornton, the announcer for the game show Wheel of Fortune, was fired by Sony Pictures Television in September 2026 after allegations surfaced that he visited a pedophilia support chatroom while on a commercial flight.

The Incident: Photos taken by a fellow passenger on an American Airlines flight in May 2026 showed Thornton on the website lifeline.chat, which provides support for individuals with pedophilic thoughts. The chat logs included disturbing references to minors and an abbreviation for child pornography.
