Last year, #Stellantis paid $190.7 million in civil penalties for failing to meet fuel-economy targets for 2019 and 2020, and nearly $400 million for 2016 through 2019, Reuters noted. #GeneralMotors previously paid $128.2 million in penalties for 2016 and 2017. With no threat of penalties, automakers also have less incentive to buy compliance credits from other firms.

  9. Biden pulls back on tightened car and truck fuel standards
"Under the rule, formally known as the Corporate Average #FuelEconomy standards, all light-duty vehicles overall must meet an average of 50.4 mpg in 2031, down from 55.7 mpg in last year’s proposal. The current average is 39.1 mpg.

For SUVs and pickups, the requirement will be 45 mpg. That’s up from the 35.2 mpg they average now, but it’s less than the 52.2 mpg that the agency had proposed last year."

  10. Reading Time: < 1 minute

    960km range

For a brief instance I saw that I had a 960km range with the car. It was brief because as soon as I accelerated above a certain speed the reading went down to a normal reading. It would have been nice to have such a long range for longer.

  13. #FuelEconomy and #emissions in the U.S. are regulated by three different bodies. California, a state with unique influence, sets… stringent requirements that other states can choose to follow. The #EPA regulates vehicle emissions nationwide… and #NHTSA regulates fuel economy…

At one point the three bodies coordinated to set shared standards, but they have since split back apart… under the #Biden administration, all three are pushing in the same general direction: EVs.”

  15. Imagine that you bought three pounds of vegetables, and immediately threw out two before starting to cook with the remaining pound.

    Crazy, right?

But something like that is exactly what you do every time you put gas into your #car's tank.
#FossilFueled cars are that horrifyingly inefficient.

  16. Do you think this will happen? They can always cheat and say hybrids are included.

The revised Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards wants new vehicles in the US to reach 49 miles per gallon of gasoline by 2026.

  17. #fueleconomy

Price rises because demand exceeds production.

Production drops because of embargo but demand grows due to goods production demand in post covid era (and needed to keep the debt growth lundry machine running)

People asking lower prices while keeping their consumption means investing into fuel production.

The winners are the remaining oil companies (look at their benefits) selling oil with huge margin.
