  1. Breaking news: #LFortran, a #compiler for the two people who still write #Fortran, has achieved the monumental feat of compiling #fpm. 🎉🤦‍♂️ Excited developers publish a novella-length blog post, as if anyone is going to read all 1401 words about yet another compiler doing what compilers do. 📚💤

  3. If you are sharing counterforce.social with your friends/followers, it's a good idea to include links to #FPM allpunkspleaseleavemeta.com and/or our how-to guide the-counterforce.org/guide-to-

Seeing a lot of people request accounts/sign up who've just landed on the server but they are expecting an Instagram like experience right off the bat! A little context and explanation goes a long way.

Also we're not approving account requests that are really empty or really vague!

  4. Fediverse Punk Month — We can grow something better!

We invest too much of our culture in centralized, for-profit, corporate social media platforms. These platforms enrich billionaires, expand surveillance, and fund the cult of capitalist war, all while trapping us with addictive algorithms that feed us mindless content. […]

  5. Baltimore Punks! Come join us at The Lab for a Switch to Fediverse event. If you're seeing this, you're already on Fedi, so get your friends to come.

We will be discussing what Mastodon and the Fediverse are, why we should own our own social media, and then everyone will make an account and follow each other!

  10. Also you can go see the public feeds of some servers. You can't interact and you don't see as much this way but it's less work.

  11. Are you curious about what the local feed looks like on another server?

I build myself a counterforce feed! I went to the counterforce users list, followed everyone, and made myself a list called counterforce.

@somepunk boosts all the new counterforce users when they join so you can make sure you don't miss anything.

    Here's how I did it:
    1. Go here to find the public counterforce users list counterforce.social/directory
Sub whatever server here, not all servers have a public list
    2. When you follow someone, on their profile there is the follow/unfollow button, then to the right there is a notification icon, then three dots. Click the three dots
    3. Select add or remove from lists
    4. For the first follower, add a new list by typing the name in the top field. I called mine Counterforce, click add
    5. Click the little plus sign beside the list

When a user is already in the list you can tell because there is an X beside the list.

Some folks have their account set up so they have to approve followers so some of them you will have to wait and come back to them when they approved your follow and add them to the list.

You can make the list exclusive so that it doesn't show up in your other feeds and you just have a little curated feed.

  14. #FPM print some little pamphlet flyers and get out there!

  15. Hello fellow #FPM punks. January is here. Many of you have been here forever, and many of you are early birds who just signed up in the past few weeks,

Help spread the word! This will work better if we do it together. The site has images you can share online + flyers, pamphlets, and zines you can print out for shows or give to friends.
