Another little #Forkizen thought of mine this morning. I’m going to really try hard not to be a doomer. Much like the rage cycle, I think algorithmic social media encourages folks to wallow in their own doom spiral.

Instead, I want to be hopeful while still being critical. I think we all need hope in order to build a better future and fulfill the dreams of a liberal and free society. Wallowing in the doom, and feelings of helplessness, cedes the ground to brutes who seek only to dominate.

Another dialogue started, another opportunity to improve things in the local community.

Which made me remember our local news reporting - 2nd graphic...which probably is also reported in your local paper, yes?

I asked our editor about this practice/policy - 3rd graphic

Will things improve with regard to this local reporting? That is a definite maybe. (If this dialogue had not started, then I can confidently say that nothing would change.)

I'll follow up on this the next time I meet our local editor for green chile cheeseburgers.

Hi #forkizen folks: this is woefully just a quick start, but I created a Mastodon #StarterPack Pack of the top most active posters I've seen on the #forkiverse so far. Will up this later to day to top 30 later. Very up to add anyone - and very up to transfer ownerhsip of this starter pack to someone from that server.

Also I added @Casey - but could not add @pj nor @kevin as their forkiverse mastodon accounts are set to not allow it. In comment I'll note ow to fix.
