Happy 'chosen day for bureaucratic purposes' birthday to meeee 🐈⬛
When I was adopted, the vet guessed my birthday was around late July/early August, based on my teeth 🦷
So my human set the 1st of August as my birthday, which is in my cat passport and on my pet insurance. It's also Yorkshire Day! 💙 🤍
It was also recently my human's birthday, and I think this card is puuurfect 🐈⬛

I wrote a little library to help make writing blog articles easier. It just takes a markdown file and translates it into html. After a couple years of trying to figure out what I wanted to do and how I wanted to do it, I finished version 1 of a stock tank pool today. Kids have a way to cool down this summer. #forkiverse

I've been watching a lot of Hank Green lately. He did a podcast interviewing Wyna Liu, and she sort of off handedly mentioned "No effort is wasted". I put a lot of effort into a lot of things, and the statement helps motivate me a little. I read a couple books a month, and I write response essays when the mood hits. Rather than just keeping each essay tucked away, I think I'll try posting a few here. Since the #Forkiverse has reared its head again, let's review:
The "Forkiverse" is not a "fork" of anything
Currently it's running #Mastodon v4.5.11
So it's on the latest Mastodon distro, but it looks to be a plain-jane un--modded stock install
It is still however a #NewYork #Podcast #Influencer play on the relentless promo that it's somehow something new and different from any other Fedi instance
A "fork" dontcha know?
Oh yeah...

Ik zag in het artikel al iets over de podcast Hard Fork, die hebben afgelopen jaar eigenlijk hetzelfde soort experiment gevoerd met een eigen sociale medium opzetten, ze noemden het de #Forkiverse. Ik zal even kijken of ik de link kan opsnorren.

I have quite a few Forker people that I’m following that have gone inactive. Not all mutuals, however I *would* like to follow them if they *were* active. BUT! it would also be nice to reduce my follows.

Very glad to see the #HardFork and SearchEngine podcast Fediverse community the #Forkiverse server continuing to thrive. So they are at 10,000 or so registered users, and hovering at a healthy 1.4 thousand of those as monthly active users. That tracks to normal rates on social. And the conversations are active and growing. I think I underestimated the power of focused, topic-based server communities on the fediverse. 🧵 1/2

Heads up - there’s this scam going around where inactive #Forkiverse accounts suddenly pop in the local feed and ask “is this thing still going?“ “Yikes, is anyone still here?” or “I totally forgot about this, wow it seems dead.“
We’re working on the issue. In the meantime, it’s important to not draw suspicion: engage with these accounts by replying, liking, and boosting.
We’ll get through this.
