This one is in Grant City in NW Missouri. I’d guess the hydrant is at least 80 years old.

I learned today that modern fire hydrants are designed to simply snap off if they're hit by a car. The valves are well below the ground surface, so no water is spilled if the hydrant breaks off - unlike older hydrants.

last night was researching some #streetfurniture / #cartography / #OSM related stuff (I think it was trying to find a map of UK #FireHydrants ) and it led me to some website discussions and a link to FOI requests (some Fire Brigades are very wary about sharing the locations of these, although its not consistent across the country) - in which @Edent was a contributor..
