Заходишь на сайт, а там вылезает капча: "Выберите все квадраты, на которых изображены велосипеды". Или гидранты. Или автобусы. И каждый из вас сто процентов хотя бы раз в ней ошибался. Ну просто потому, что в очередной раз случайно зацепил краем мышки не тот квадрат, где торчит несчастный кусок колеса. Приходится кликать заново, злиться и наконец доказывать сайту, что вы не робот.

I followed one of the links on @pluralistic's recent blog post and got this monstrosity. The irony would be delightful if it weren't so infuriating.

I was going to report it as some kind of typosquatting malware/phishing scam, but when I checked the network connections, it seemed to be going back to actual Google. When I refreshed it it gave me the normal click-all-the-cars type it uses to train its self-driving cars, murder drones, or whatever.

#Google is probably testing out the waters to see how far they can go.

“Google wants a look at your hands before it lets you through. The company’s newest reCAPTCHA check, rolling out now as a test, asks you to switch on your camera and wave at it so an algorithm can decide whether you’re a human or a bot.

That wave is less casual than it looks. The system records a short video of your hand and pulls 21 hand-landmark coordinates from it, mapping your finger joints, your palm geometry, and the way you move in real time.

Google describes the purpose as liveness detection, a way for websites to fend off automated account creation, credential-stuffing, and other fraud. But this is still a biometric scan, collected so you can prove you’re a person and still involves turning on your cameras for Google.”

Ich bin nun das erste Mal am Desktop auf ein QR-Code-Recaptcha gestoßen. Mit iOS 26 kann man das einscannen und ohne installierte #ReCaptcha -App wird das validiert. Wie funktioniert das ohne installierte App? Ist das einfach eine Fullscreen-Webapp oder hat Apple dafür etwas ins OS integriert?

Ich könnte mir eine häufig genutzte Handgeste gut vorstellen 😆
