Gonna make some sort of tutorials / infographics on how to secure your WA and Gmail account so it's easier for us to get control on it and make it much harder for suspicious third party to impersonate you and your family.

If you are using OBS, please make sure your plugins are supporting 32.x before upgrading OBS to that version.
You don't want to lose some of the elements you're added to your stream that didnt have update compatibility with v32 yet, right?

Here's a quick guide to disable annoying AI Summarization in Gmail (And google product) :
1. See all settings
2. Scroll down in general, manage workspace smart..
3. Turn off the smart feature in workplace. That will take care of the summarization.
4. Optionally explore other settings! -
An extension for Chrome/Edge that works with Google, and can hide the AI Search results that plagues the top search page! This actually works~ In case you want to search things without disrupted.

....i kinda enjoy being a Platform Creator. It is in line with my SRE path...

People work when the systems are working properly.
I work when the systems are not working.
Ironic. -
@wolfieamel a lot of people have that notion, mostly. I use it for vm, server, or container, yes, but never as main OS - especially as i'm not a modder. I prefer to use things as-is, and I know each OS are better suited for what they can do.
Configurable? Yes. Totally. Some people don't want to config things too much though. One of the reason I kept my laptop windows background as-is (call me boring, but I like the default background as I will most likely never see it).
Effort needed to configure something that has other alternatives that is already configured sometimes are too much for my liking. And the use case are sometimes aren't good enough for me to justify doing that.
Don't get me wrong - i made a lot of platforms. I customize them - IF I GET proper use case. Mostly what I do is modification, and tune things up. Rarely for myself though, as I love to do things as is. Same when I'm doing games, I prefer not to mod it as I want to experience things as is. Buuut it's another story.

#FioTechRant so, now, I'm going to try to use Hugo to simulate a CMS, complete with language translation and menu...
We'll see how it goes.

...i just realized I only stream with 1200 Kbps for the Dead Space remake stream. No wonder the recording is grainy. Sigh.
I'll crank it up to 3000-4000 kbps next time.

Fhew. Morning started with troubleshooting a #MineCraft server, which suddenly become so slow. Turns out, someone created 3000+ armorstand on a main chunk....
Kill those, then server is working properly again.
I still wonder though... Why armorstand counted as Entity... At least with this, I have proper use case to update and remove unneeded plugins.

Just learned by experience that changing legal name on PayPal Personal / Business is possible with proper documents!
That means, I don't need to expose oldname more often for payment and work!
It's really a huge thing. I still keep the one with my oldname (on personal) as I still need to connect with Bank Account with that name to withdraw, but it's mostly internal. This means very much for me, honestly.
This week is very fruitful in this regard...

Also, a small #FioTechRant for today - what's with #Tomcat official image is in Jammy Ubuntu only, and nothing for #Alpine / #Debian ?
I saw Eclipse Temurin base image has Alpine, it should be there on Tomcat official image too, right...?
I know I can just build it myself, but I am looking for better way to automate things using latest official image as I need to set up some hardening scripts for app team to use...
Well, for now, I use either Debian or Eclipse #Temurin base...

Good mornoon afterevening, Fedi people! Evening-to-Midnight here from #SouthEastAsia ~
Hope your Friday was fruitful and good, or will be! Mine, sure does! Tired though, but enjoyable!
Get to do a lot of things, and helping people creating some FOSS html/doc/excel to PDF~ ASP Classic is a pain, so I just create some API to handle that with unoconv~ Gotenberg can help but i prefer less Puppeteer for now.
Remember to hydrate whenever you can and need to!

So, another #FioTechRant about #Elasticsearch #APM with Batch - yes, I saw it's not supporting natively on Java Spring Batch / Boot process or any batches like Quarkus - but is there any way to monitor those? Maybe using different agent? Or any settings?
Still looking on how to set it up properly... Been using ELK extensively, team even succeeded in set up RUM agent for react-native. But we'll need to test it out.

Now for my #GamingNotes #WriteFreely instance, I hosted my image on my own pixelfed instance, using a private account and post. I wonder if setting up #NextCloud would be a better option to host the image...
I know I can just upload the image somewhere, but I want to put it in a proper place. And for now, seems #PixelFed one is the better option.
We'll see how it goes...

Hm, another #FioTechRant in #ASP - did anyone know a working module / dll / whatever that can convert html to pdf in ASP classic? We tried wkhtmltox but it has issues in registering using gacutil in .Net 2.0 (trying Tuespechkin and pechkin too...). Anyone have experience for this?
-
its easily be done BY setting up IIS then adding the ASP on 2nd iteration.. But the weird thing is that they can't do it on one go only...
-
Anyways! Back to #FioTechRant , I found out that in #Elastic cluster, shard balancing are done from the number of shards. So if the size isn't similar (for example, APM shard and filebeat shard), one node will have more disk usage than the others.
Is there any way to balance it from file size, or document size, for example? I use three nodes with similar size on a cluster, and traffic is handled through loadBalancer for the cluster...

Also - un-update works well.
Things working properly again. Seems I'm still SRE afterall. It's ironic if SRE can't fix her own issues. Now time to do proper RCA so this won't happen again. (I really should upgrade my laptop but still not on the priority...).
May need to turn off update or cleanup boot drive space ..
It's both on the pipeline too as the next best thing for me is upgrading the HDD into data SSD...
-
So.
I'm doing interesting PoC here - syncing data from #PostgreSQL to #Elasticsearch cluster, so we can call API directly from elasticsearch without doing SP to call the query on postgre (data is about 3-5 million rows, and returning 6-10k data each call).
So far I can get 1-3 seconds per 1st call and < 1 second after Elastic API cached. I am wondering if there's a way to make it near-real time... It's a good improvement though, Postgre manual call takes too long.

...NVM, Issue fixed. apparently creating dedicated user made some issues with www-data lol. Now it works.
Scenery here, and testing to sync with PixelFed :

YAY it works now!!!
#PixelFed instance spun properly, without YunoHost, from dev branch and php 8.1. That takes time to set up.......now my laptop stopped working (usual windows thingie). Need to restart it I guess...
Will try to login after.
-
..sigh. Let me restart setting it up again now. Apparently they set up #pixelfed for nginx better than for apache. 30 mins? 30 mins.
-
Heh, apparently I shouldn't use dev branch of pixelfed, lol. I'll just use release tag branch instead, that should work with composer.
-
Aaand issue fixed before user came.
Love the early alerting system and anomaly detection! Making sure the system is reliable and let us know before report happens.
Hope this can make us having few steps closer to proper SRE practices~
