  1. Update: Power cut chaos in #Spain and #Portugal caused by 'rare' atmospheric phenomenon, says operator [#Heat related!]

"We're now hearing from Antonio Costa, president of the European Council, who says there are no indications that today's power outage has been caused by a cyber attack at this point."

"It says that "due to #ExtremeTemperature variations in the interior or Spain, there were anomalous oscillations in the very high voltage lines (400 KV), a phenomenon known as 'induced atmospheric vibration'"."

  2. Sadly here is a #MinistryForTheFuture related news item. The first chapter of the book is an account of an extreme #heatwave in #India that causes millions of deaths. Sadly, I think we will see something similar in India or South America very soon. Temperatures have reached over 50C in parts of India in recent days and there are now water shortages in Delhi. With night time temperatures only dropping to low 30s there is no respite from the heat. #ClimateCrisis #ClimareChange #ExtremeTemperature #WetBulbTemperature #WetBulbEvent theguardian.com/world/article/

  8. 10 Twilight Zone Episodes That Eerily Predicted The Future: Season 3, "The Midnight Sun" (aired 1961)

    by Ronnie Valliere
    Updated: July 12th, 2022

"This season 3 episode begins with Earth steadily moving closer to the sun. The story primarily revolves around two inhabitants of a #NewYorkCity apartment building dealing with the #ExtremeHeat as the planet pushes closer to extinction. In true Twilight Zone fashion, those events are revealed to be a dream but the opposite is actually true. The Big Apple’s temperature is actually plummeting as the planet moves further away from the sun.

"Earth succumbing to #ExtremeTemperature changes is a familiar narrative. The 'greenhouse effect' and 'global warming' are terms we are all too familiar with today. #ClimateChange has caused environmental havoc like out of control fires and the melting of polar ice caps.

"There are heated political debates over what to do or what not to do about climate change while humanity’s future hangs in the balance. Unlike Earth in The Midnight Sun, at least our Earth has a chance to avoid impending doom."

Well, that's a bit optimistic, eh?

“Today's global 2m temperature blasted through yesterday's all time record global high, reaching a new record high of 17.18°C. This is a full 1.64°C above the 1850-1900 IPCC baseline temperature for the day.

    Hang on folks.”
