  4. In England you can (and should!) register to vote from age 16 up.

In Scotland and Wales it's from age 14 up, for the Scottish Parliament/Senedd elections.

Presumably England will drop to 14 soon too, as votes at 16 were being promised everywhere by Labour.

  6. 2025 ENGLAND LOCAL ELECTIONS EXPECTED RESULTS TIMES

See graphic below (by @electionmapsuk ) for expected declaration times.

Please note that the only results declarations expected during Thursday/Friday night are the mayoral results for North Tyneside, West of England and Greater Lincolnshire by 2am. After that there's nothing until 5am or 7am Friday at the earliest, and the bulk of the results will be Friday afternoon/evening.

So not much point in staying up on Thursday night. I'll be trying to liveblog the results as they come in throughout Friday.

  7. Via @davorg, some data from the big 'call another election' petition.

tl;dr, it's mostly voters in #ReformUK areas who'd like a re-run. Presumably because they mistakenly think people elsewhere are as regressive as they are, rather than because they realise they've made a terrible mistake.

  8. "A new £600m recovery grant will be targeted at England’s most deprived towns and cities, alongside longer-term “fair funding” plans intended to rebalance council funding away from the more affluent south-east."

"The financial problems dogging #councils have driven an unprecedented number of them into or close to insolvency in recent years as they struggle with soaring costs for #SocialCare, special educational needs and #homelessness."
