  1. #WalesOnline don't take no shit. But AndyBurnham's team offered them an article by their boy, which was shit 💩. It was just a "Welshified version" of an article written for English regions. It was full of inaccuracy.

So they didn't publish the shit 💩. Instead they published an article about #Burnhams's errors. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Boy who will be Prime Minister in 13 days doesn't understand that some powers are devolved to #Wales. Not in #Burnham's control.

  2. Andy #Burnham's coronation as UK Prime Minister is still a fortnight away. But already he has done a very thorough job of alienating Scotland & Wales.

It's not just crassness about #indyref. #TheGuardian's Wales correspondent Bethan McKernan notes a consistent pattern of missteps on devolution and finance. theguardian.com/politics/2026/

These are all basic issues of how the UK is now structured. The pitfalls are clearly signed. Burnham is not paying attention to 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿.

  3. Campaigners oppose #ReformUK call to end Welsh Government international spending.

Cutting this funding would not save meaningful sums, it would send a damaging message that we have no care for global communities, whilst reducing our global opportunities.

  4. The #Senedd 2026 vote breakdown by age is stunning.

75% of the under-30 voters chose #PlaidCymru or the Greens. 75%! Three out of four!

Between them, the #LabourParty, #LibDems and #ConservativeParty got only ~10% of the under-30 votes.

If only under-30s had voted, the Senedd would have had no Labour MS, no Conservative MS, and no LibDem MS. It would have been a wipeout

  5. #YouGov has published a fascinating breakdown of how Wales voted in the 2026 #Senedd election by key demographic and political divides. Full details at yougov.com/en-gb/articles/5491

#PlaidCymru’s support was higher among younger voters, those with higher levels of both education and household income, while being highest of all among those who are fluent in Welsh.

  6. "The deputy leader of #PlaidCymru says the party is "absolutely not" considering a coalition with #ReformUK in the Welsh government.

"Plaid Cymru made big gains in Thursday's election and is now the biggest party in the Senedd with 43 seats, but it has fallen short of the 49 needed for a majority

"The party stands ready to form the next Welsh government and would consider co-operating with other "progressive parties" where there is common ground."

  7. #Cymru brings the biggest defeat of 2026: #ElunedMorgan, First Minister of Wales & leader of Welsh Labour.

Under #Wales's d'Hondt voting system, a party winning at least 17% of the votes in any constituency is guaranteed one of the six seats in that constituency. Cast iron guaranteed.

But in Ceredigion Penfro, #WelshLabour won only 7.3%. So no seats there for Labour.

After winning every Welsh election since the 1920s, the #LabourParty is now 3rd in the #Senedd. It's over.

  8. RE: toot.wales/@NationCymru/116526

It is so irresponsible and telling that Labour are all "we shouldn't see it as a fight between Plaid and Reform."

If your priority is avoiding fascism then yes, you absolutely should see it that way, and if you gave a damn about that you'd be doing anything it takes to support anyone who will beat Reform rather than trying to split the vote.

  10. "In Wales, Lord Hayward predicted #PlaidCymru, the Welsh nationalist party, will be the largest party in terms of both votes and seats in Wales’ Parliament, the Senedd."

  13. In England you can (and should!) register to vote from age 16 up.

In Scotland and Wales it's from age 14 up, for the Scottish Parliament/Senedd elections.

Presumably England will drop to 14 soon too, as votes at 16 were being promised everywhere by Labour.

  14. Congrats to #PlaidCymru for supporting Vivek Thuppil. He is right: #Israel is a terrorist state. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cwywvr

But this is all back-to-front. The #BBC should be hounding parties to ensure that every candidate for every party unequivocally agrees that Israel is a terrorist state.

  17. "In the Gorton and Denton byelection on Thursday, a formerly rock-solid seat for #Labour is delivering a three-way race in which it could finish third behind #Reform and the #Greens. In Wales, #PlaidCymru’s grip on the progressive vote, and Reform’s rise, threatens an ignominious rout after a century of Labour dominance."

  18. "The best way to secure the future of the UK is to make it work for the people of the UK. To do this would involve a bold rethink of how we make it a state fit for the present day rather than the arcane hodgepodge of inertia and tradition that it currently is."

  19. "If the polls are to be believed, the United Kingdom is in a very interesting position. By the end of May, it is likely that the largest party in three of the four constituent countries of the UK will want the larger polity in which they operate to break apart."

  20. "First, #PlaidCymru is storming ahead. It has conviction. It offers hope. Second, the traditional English-based parties are now as dead in Wales as they are in Scotland: the breakdown in the political thinking of the countries of the supposed UK is becoming very obvious; the ties are over. Third, #ReformUK has peaked, which is a trend I think we will start to see in England soon. Fourth, the #Greens are a growing force."

  22. 50.4% turnout, blimey.

Some optimistic noises coming from Plaid, especially around youth turnout.

I'm still predicting disaster, but if it's one in which voters abandon my party for Plaid while rejecting Reform, I'd be content with it being a disaster merely for my party rather than for my country.

  24. Anecdotally, I encounter this fairly regularly too — mostly, but not exclusively, from the right, and usually from the politically unengaged.

As described here, Reform are only interested in the Welsh elections next May to shore up resources for their national party rather than legislating responsibly for Wales and Welsh people — but I think it a valid concern that our very democracy may be on the ballot too.
