Gosh.
Resounding victory for Plaid on 47.4% to Reform's 36%. Labour crushed on a mere 11%, and Tories down to 2%.
Bitter pill to swallow seeing us lose Hefin's seat, but Reform represents an existential threat to our democracy and I am very glad that Plaid prevented them from taking it.

50.4% turnout, blimey.
Some optimistic noises coming from Plaid, especially around youth turnout.
I'm still predicting disaster, but if it's one in which voters abandon my party for Plaid while rejecting Reform, I'd be content with it being a disaster merely for my party rather than for my country.

#Caerphilly goes to the polls today to elect a new Member of the #Senedd. Reform UK have dominated in the run up. I hope everyone will join me in voting for @plaid_cymru_bgcr Lindsay Whittle: as well as actually caring about Caerphilly, Plaid are best placed to beat Reform and keep English nationalism and racism out of Wales.

“Economically inactive” bugs the shit out of me.
When you’re poor, you spend all your money. Only rich students or students with rich famiies (yep, I’d argue there’s a distiunction) can be full-time students without at least one part-time job.And disabled people? We spend all our money on shit to make life slightly less miserable.
Carers similarly so, except they barely get a mention. They complete administrative dialysis for themselves and a whole other person — or people! On top of that, they do any personal care, medical care, etc that most people actually imagine from the phrase “unpaid carer”.
The only “economically inactive” thing about anyone subjected to life in an economy is rich people who hoard their money for clout. Each anxious attempt to swipe resources “for later” impoverishes us all AND the rich people acting on their emboldened impulses.

I read recently about an idea to bring back wartime 'British restaurants'.
I'd love to see the Welsh political parties consider this for #Senedd manifestos.
Imagine in every town a warm place to get a very cheap, nutritious meal. Menus designed to be healthy, low waste & low carbon. Ethical, seasonal & local ingredients. Supporting a Welsh food culture. Creating jobs, improving wellbeing and reducing poverty. Lower burden on NHS.
Or is this pie in the sky?
