#ActivismJourney 4/n Ok so my climate actvism journey started in February 2019. I was watching a video of one of the youth strikes at the time. Hearing the children’s voices, I suddenly felt that they were asking me, and that I, as an adult and parent, needed to act for them. It was a real #Ecophany - a term that I saw a few weeks later in this article (about people who joined XR) and that really resonated.

#ClimateDiary i had my #Ecophany (realising i needed to really act about climate) in Feb 2019 and have tried so many different things since. But right now, for the first time, I feel completely “spent”. Obviously #ClimateEmergency hasn’t gone away; it’s more my own issues (mostly i think debilitating sense of guilt and hypocrisy). Have any of you ever had these points, and how did you work your way out again? Or anyone feeling this just now, too?

#ClimateDiary 3rd March 2023. Today is a big #FridaysForFuture #ClimateStrike. I salute all young people yet again demanding #ClimateAction. And am thinking back to the #Youthstrikes and #GretaThunberg exactly four years ago (when - hearing children’s voices asking adults to act - i had my #Ecophany, set up a local @parents4future group etc). Good day to reflect on what has changed since then. Certainly not as much as we hoped then. Yes change takes time but we have so little

@ScotHomestead @jbenjamint 2/2 After school, there was a new preloved uniform sale, organised by parents, which was a huge success. Really good to see a small local #CircularEconomy project taking off, particularly in this school, in this (conservative) town. Of course this is as much about the #CostOfLiving crisis as about #Sustainability. Learning so much about what works, what doesn’t (see recently posted #Ecophany #Burnout paper about own unsuccessful attempts) #ClimateAction

This morning I had an exchange with @saskia about a setback with establishing a #SchoolStreet in Bath. Since then I've been thinking about all those #UK local councils that declared a #ClimateEmergency in 2019. I thought I might share here a (not very good paper) I wrote about my experiences with this here in #Eastbourne - what worked, what didn't. Maybe useful for some, I don't know. Would love to hear others!

My main experience of switching from birdsite to here: there constantly in grip of #climate related news and calls to #activism; here “oh this is nice and really interesting” stuff - which has been great for well-being and has made me reflect on how my #ecophany and #climateactvism have coincided exactly with time on birdsite - all birdsite radicalisation?
Appreciate calm here but would welcome a bit more urgency perhaps (lack prob just a function of own timeline I know) #BombCyclone
