70-80mph wind gusts coupled with extreme snowfall rates between 2-4” per hour.
Visibility near true zero in exposed areas. A generational blizzard for some.

A picture from the ISS showing the storm from today. Pressure was so low that it was similar to a cat-1 or cat-2 hurricane. Wind gusts up to 60 mph. Some places got dumped with snow while others just got a dusting. I was laughing my butt off when the wind picked up in the parking lot, but def had to drive slow and careful on the roads. Dangerous, but pretty.

So, last Monday, November 25, I had to go pick up someone at SeaTac airport. When I left my phone had no service, but i thought "Hey, bomb cyclone, maybe my local tower is out. I'm GenX—I can go places without a phone! Anyway, the airport is likely to have service. If not I'll walk in and find them at baggage claim like the old days."
Phone service resumed just as I got to the airport; pickup went smoothly. I was told: "I called a couple times but it went straight to your voicemail." Replied: "Yeah, service was out. Bomb cyclone, I guess."
Friends, it is now December 2. Guess what voicemail I *just* received.
At least it's dated correctly.

Here are a few photos from Puget Sound Energy working to restore power to people after the bomb cyclone.
Power is still out for many. Our trees are so big.
And yes Europeans we often run lines underground, but in cities.
Underground doesn’t work for long distances in the countryside that supply power to so many.

20241125Rain showers today as the remnants of our #BombCyclone make landfall and finally moves out. High pressure builds offshore after and while we may have a few light showers in things look pretty dry through Thursday.
We have a chance of showers Friday into the weekend as a few weak disturbances move into the Gulf of Alaska.
