@hrefna That's the sort of approach we're taking at #DistributedPress
If you're going to be at rue fediforum tomorrow we're planning to have a session to get more into the details :)
Right now we've split the content/publishing/serving/inbox/reading into different components that can be mixed and matched

Don't worry about @Announcements
We're just working on releasing a new way to discover accounts with #DistributedPress
-
#DistributedPress now has a product offerings and services page for anyone interested in hiring us to set up your #ActivityPub integration, static site hosting on the #dweb across different #p2p protocols like #ipfs or #bittorrent, and general tech stuff in this area.
-
One of the neat innovations of the #DistributedPress #SocialInbox is that instead of having a large central instance database everyone pulls from for their clients, each user has a personal database of just the things they got sent. From there they can pull data from people they follow and replies using the ActivityPub client-server API. This means that the data you see has a higher social context to who you interact with rather than a grab bag of whatever folks throw onto the global timeline.
-
Suuuper rough sketch for anyone interested. Basically we'll have a list of accounts you follow in localStorage, then ingest their outboxes into this. Then we'll set up fully p2p identities and use the #DistributedPress #SocialInbox as another source to ingest stuff like followers only posts and replies from people you don't follow.

@kik Yeah! Among other p2p protocols and regular static site publishing. Following @dripline and the hashtag #DistributedPress on here should be enough. I think we have RSS on dripline too. Also @sutty is intehrating it with their static site content management system which is nice to use.

Hey fedifolks! I was hoping to get some bikeshedding feedback on a new #FEP we're working on at #DistributedPress.
tl;dr we want #ActivityPub objects to link to #P2P URLs for alternate ways to load them. Right now I'm debating between putting them in `alsoKnownAs` or into the `url` field. e.g. `"alsoKnownAs": ["ipns://staticpub.mauve.moe"]` for @[email protected]
I worry that field is already in use and that it could cause trouble. Would a new field name be better? Maybe `alternateURL`?

π£ Announcing DP Social Inbox!
I've had the pleasure of contributing to the development of the #DistributedPress Social Inbox with an incredibly talented team at hypha.coop @dripline.
This tool brings social interactions to static websites on the decentralized web.

Super excited that our new #ActivityPub implementation, the #DistributedPress #SocialInbox has got it's official announcement out! If you want to add #P2P or #Fediverse support to your existing site, do hit us up! :)

@em @teal What makes you say that they can't? I use signed fetches as auth for the #DistributedPress #SocialInbox and it's pretty straightforward. There's the issue of CORS headers not being availabke on a lot of instances tho.
-
@teal Yeah defs gonna experiment with this in yhe AP client I'm plabbing to make for #DistributedPress
-
Published a blog about the new Social Inbox tool we've made at #DistributedPress which makes it easy to add #ActivityPub to your static websites.

writing documentation on the new stuff I've been doing with #ActivityPub and #DistributedPress and listening to this electronic music artist from Paris.
not sure what it is but french people know electronic music π₯°

Fun fact! You can now follow @[email protected] which is one of the first accounts using the #DistributedPress #ActivityPub #SocialInbox project.
We're finalizing our release so expect more info on how it works shortly!
For folks that don't want to mess with the technical details, keep wacth for @sutty which is integrating this functionality into their static site #CMS using Jekyll!
-
Anyone got an API endpoint of the "most blocked instances" handy? I wanna add it to the initialization flow for the #DistributedPress #SocialInbox
Ideally it'd be nice to say "Here's the top 100 most hated instances so you can preemptively block them if you'd like". It's not perfect but I think this would make it easier for small publishers to get started.
-
We've got a new #ActivityPub implementation that'll be released in early September in #DistributedPress!
Instead of fancy frontends and databases, we're focusing on enabling statically published sites to add AP support via a lightweight Social Inbox server that they can register using standard HTTP Signed Messages.
-
@Rainer we're going to have a thing in #DistributedPress in the next couple months for folks doing static site publishing and blogs. We have a jekyll plugin to generate AP data from your blog posts, and a thin "inbox server" that just shows you replies and follow requests and has blocklists/allowlists/manual approval.

Hey folks! Check out this post by Lindsay Walker on how you can host your blog on #P2P protocols using #DistributedPress and view it in #Brave or #Agregore

Having a rough one focus-wise today.
Listening to #DeathGrips and fixing up #BitTorrent integration with #DistributedPress

Got productive an hour earlier than usual today. :P Feels weird to be off by one in the other direction for once.
This week is going to be focusing on roadmapping #DistributedPress and the #ActivityPub integration there, and testing the #WARC file chunking for #IPFS in @webrecorder

BTW my talk on #Holistic #LocalFirst software from #CausalIslands is already out on YouTube! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0EcpqX2Wq0&t=9073s
This paints my vision for how #p2p #web / #dweb tech can fit in with #mesh networks with @agregore / #DistributedPress / @webrecorder to create a new foundation for resilient and cheaper technology.

Having convos on what the story for #WebMentions / #ActivityStream integration will look like for #DistributedPress
Hoping to iron out a cool new #p2p social layer on top of your #dweb sites later this year!
