Following a recent vote where many of our small town neighbors chose to cast people like me and my husband out of the church, my first inclination is to obsess on the homophobic bigots surrounding us.
How much better, though, to focus on the folks who, at great personal cost, stood up for us, spoke up for us, and fought for us. Doing so cost many of them friendships that had endured for decades -- and in two cases, their jobs.

Big kudos to the North Georgia Conference of the #UMC for suspending its #disaffiliation process over the massive #misinformation campaign designed to frighten church members into disaffiliating.
Church leaders in many congregations are using falsehoods, defamation, and scare tactics to frighten church members into voting to disaffiliate, skewing the vote.
