There are several SSI Fellows with #GLAM and #DigitalHumanities backgrounds: it would be amazing if there could be more of us! If this is you and you have an idea for a Fellowship project, please feel free to DM me with questions, I'd be happy to help.
It might be that you write research software yourself, or it might be that you support others who do, or provide training, or do related things like research data management. Like DH, it's a Big Tent! 🎪😜

Thanks to everybody who supported my #Interrail trip to the #DH2025 conference in #Lisbon, #Portugal.I have good news: Yesterday, on the train to #Madrid I met #bicycle activists. Easily recognizable by t-shirts with #Pedallibre or similar. These guys really know about #trafficpolitics. They assured me that the fast speed #train #Madrid-#Lisbon will come 2030 for the football WC. #greenways

You are interested in how symbols and meanings vary in the art history hermeneutic discourse? Then don't miss the talk on "An analysis of symbolic associations in the Arts based on open data" by our colleague Sofia Baroncini at the #DH2025!
Discuss the paper with Sofia and her co-authors during the session 'Knowledge Graphs, Open Data and Quantitative Analysis for Art Datasets'.

@jomla I agree that at #DHd2025, #Mastodon worked great. Similarly at #CHR2024 last year. It is more quite here at #DH2025, clearly. But I hear that #Bluesky is not all that intense either, apparently? (Maybe only in the first few days.) I think #Whova takes some of the social media / microblogging energy away from the open social media, which is a pity.

#DH2025 Join us for the next session on 'Digital Access and Critical Approaches to Archives, Repositories and Education' and discuss "LLMs as Analysis Tool: A Framework for Implementation, Evaluation and Critical Assessment" with our colleagues @cprog7 and @SarahOberbichler!
We look forward to learning more about the integration of LLMs into critical research workflows, and understanding the associated legal, ethical and methodological challenges.

📰 🖥️ 📈 Excited to present at @dh2025 today with my talk “What is Democracy? Scalable Reading Newspapers of the Weimar Republic.”
My project combines digital methods and close reading to analyze how democracy was discussed in historical newspapers from Weimar Germany - a scalable-reading workflow. Looking forward to the discussion and the other talks in session "SP-34".

Neat idea by Jessica Monaco and Mark Algee-Hewitt, at #DH2025, on subgenre mixture within the Gothic novel:
First, train a model to classify text segments into one of eight genres, not including the Gothic (!).
Then, ask the model to classify segments from Gothic novels into those genres in order to obtain characteristic genre mixtures within the Gothic novel.
They obtain radar plots for each Gothic novel that show this mixtures.

Dear colleagues at #DH2025 and members of @adho.org, I would deeply appreciate an official stance from our professional association(s) towards the #scholasticide and wilful destruction of material and immaterial cultural heritage of predominantly Arabic-speaking societies committed by Israel in Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, and beyond, including many of the servers that held the only copies of digitised cultural heritage in Gaza.
Two hours ago, Israel bombed buildings in central Damascus directly adjacent to the national library, which houses invaluable collections and often times the only copies of textual cultural heritage surviving after more than a decade of civil war and the uprising against the Regime of Bashar al-Assad.
