Whatiiif error logs showed high demand for Harvard URL support. I obliged! Harvard Digital Collections manifests now load automatically. Also fixed: CONTENTdm 'view at institution' now reconstructs the correct item page even from a bare manifest URL. Check it out:

Hi #glammr! I'm an MLIS with a background in digital preservation and IT, based in Normal, IL. I recently built https://whatiiif.com, a free tool for generating shareable deep links to highlighted regions of IIIF manifests. It's one MIT-licensed HTML file with no backend and no cache.

Multispectral imaging has restored the Cotton Genesis - and our @universalviewer team has applied IIIF-based functionality to enable switching between the visible light, ultraviolet and infrared images of a single folio in the same canvas. Very exciting!

Great design document and a solid example of how institutions should approach interoperability and dialogue. Too often in GLAM, the focus stops at technical implementation rather than the conversation around it (ehm cough 🇮🇹) #IIIF

Before my morning coffee, I created a service that generates IIIF manifest (either v2.1 or v3) by basically doing a SPARQL construct on RDF for the RAZU newspaper collection.

Terugblik op de vierde en laatste dag van de IIIF Annual Conference 2026 in Nederland! Congresbezoeker Nine Claassen (Netwerk Digitaal Erfgoed) volgde een verdiepende workshop over IMMARKUS en is onder de indruk van deze IIIF-annotatietool.
Rainer Simon, Hilde De Weerdt en Dawn Zhuang namen de groep mee in de praktische kant van IMMARKUS. Je kunt meerdere afbeeldingen naast elkaar bekijken en specifieke stukken highlighten. Staat er tekst in de afbeelding? Dan is er de mogelijkheid om met IMMARKUS met AI een transcriptie te maken.
Nine had op maandag al de introductieworkshop gevolgd. Een paar vragen bleven toen open. Wat doe je met losse annotaties? Wat als dezelfde persoon op meerdere afbeeldingen staat?
De verdiepende workshop gaf antwoord. Je kunt annotaties aan elkaar relateren, op basis van een datamodel. Je maakt zelf een model of importeert een bestaand model. Zo leg je relaties tussen afbeeldingen, die je (zelfs) kan visualiseren in de Knowledge Graph-functie van de tool. ‘Geweldig!' zegt Nine. 'IMMARKUS maakt het onderzoeken en vergelijken van beeldcollecties een stuk eenvoudiger.'
Zo eindigden vier dagen vol presentaties, best practices en mooie gesprekken over IIIF. Tot ziens in Parijs! De 2027-editie van de IIIF Annual Conference vindt plaats van 7 -11 juni in de Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF).
