CW: academic ethical research Fediverse
I looked for academic #research on Mast and found a handful in SocSci/comms journals and ~50 in various #ACM proceedings. I expect there will be an explosion of these papers during the months/years ahead. It will be essential for those of us used to #scraping data from commercial social media to figure out how to do #ethical research in the #fediverse. I’m guessing large scale data work is a no-no and we will rely on #citizenscience / #datadonation approaches.
