  1. The Magic We Made by Meg Cabot

Frankie Giovanni lives in West Harbor, CT. A town known for its witches. She has a neighbor that she can’t stand. He purchased the house next door and rented it to tourists. She doesn’t like him because he installed an outdoors speaker that the tourist plays at a disturbing level and drives an old pick-up truck that is equally noisy.

Frankie (Francesca) is a financial therapist. She works virtually from home, so the noise is a problem. Frankie has a large Italian family that owns a restaurant. They are a loving family that is involved in each other’s business. Frankie’s husband left her for their 24-year-old yoga instructor and took off on a sailing adventure.

Frankie is also trying to rescue a cat that keeps hanging around her house.

Ash (Ashrat) is her neighbor that she abhors.

Ash eventually rescues the cat and the two slowly become more than friends.

He also is in search of one of ten missing girls in the area. There is an island in the lake in the area where the girls are being kept in a witchy cult, but no one knows that in the beginning. Worried families keep talking to the news agencies in hopes of finding the girls.

After a surprising confession from Ash, Frankie is pulled into a magical situation that she thinks is a hallucination.

This is a funny paranormal rom com that was an entertaining read. It is the first time I have read this author, but I would be open to reading more in the future. I am aware that she wrote the Princess Diaries and I vaguely remember it, so maybe I have read her and forgotten. I do think I watched the adaptation years ago. If you like a little witchy fun, you might like this story. I did notice that it is the second in a series so I might check out book one.

I am hoping to catch up on the books that I’ve received from NetGalley this year. I need to get them read and I want to read more of my own so am juggling more books than ever. Do you ever read more than one book at a time? How has it gone for you. I will let you know what I think soon. As I often tell people, it’s all an adventure.

  3. For #MusicWomenWednesday this week, something I've been listening to a lot lately - this tour tape that came out in April from Conneticut's TOWER OF ONE. This is some raw, hardcore punk that's just great. Four fast, ripping, fantastic songs.

  4. SQUASHED BEEF are a beef-themed grind duo from Waterbury, Connecticut, and for this week's #GrindayFriday, their new debut EP 'Squash Your Enemies' is everything you could want if you're into beef-themed grindcore. Great cover art and 7 ripping songs of bizarre, depraved lunacy. What else could you honestly ask for.
