I’ve been head down steadily improving #Chunk.
I launched nearly 6 months ago and I feel like I’ve finally crossed a threshold as far as market fit!!
I’ve recently totally moved to a freemium model and dropped trials. My conversion rates were terrible. 😣
Very high conversion rates after letting people use it in a limited fashion. #indiedev

#Chunk v1.5.5 is now out on all platforms. (iOS, iPadOS, macOS, visionOS)
- Improved AI Model selection UI directly in Search tab. (Support for latest OpenAI, Anthropic, & Google Gemini 1.5 models)
- Ability to make Notes public and share via the web.
- New RESEARCH mode: Search up to 20 academic resources per query. -

It took me restructuring my backend and moving to new servers but I think Chunk is finally close to what I initially envisioned when I started building last year.
Choice of AI models. Fast search of the web, YouTube and stored documents. Ability to create notes in app & add to corpus.

Some pre-localization data for #Chunk
My app just started to get some traction internationally this month (After 4 months on the App Store), which prompted me to localize.
I'm hoping, localizing will at least increase my conversion rates. I'll update in a month and share if anything changed.
6.7% Impressions -> Store View
40% for Store View -> Install
2% for Install -> Sales -

Localizing Chunk was a LOT of work for an indie dev 😮💨 Translating not just the app, but the App Store descriptions, artwork, etc. Not to mention ToS and Privacy Policy.
Just something to think about before you go down that road.

Decided Friday night was a good time to start working on Localization for #Chunk. lol
1 language down….about 6-8 more to go…
The good news Xcode has made it much easier to localize strings since the last time I had to localize an app 6-7 years ago.
After creating a Localized String file, build the app and all (most) of your strings key/values automatically get added to it.

I said I was gonna be more transparent about my journey with my latest app, Chunk. So here goes some more interesting data.
After a little over 3 months in the App Store(s) iOS/macOS/VisionOS I've gotten over 2K downloads, 71.6K total impressions, 4.6K Product Page impressions. (*I have experimented with Apple Search Ads, about $500*)
My download conversion rate is pretty good, but my subscriber conversion rate sucks. #ConfessionsOfAIndieDev

Latest #Chunk update has added web search to queries for up to date context, which in turns adds new functionality like asking about news/current events. Querying my docs + web for contextual answers is pretty awesome 🤯
Also added a History tab. All your queries are now stored by default. You can now continue previous searches/chats.

It's been a wild 30 days. I've been iterating on #Chunk code frantically as well as App Store stuff (Artwork, pricing, keywords, description). I'm nowhere near done with either, but definitely have seen lots of traction, improved impressions/downloads.
