I'm somewhat disappointed that only 112 people out of 22,000+ have chosen to setup a recurring donation to our instance. It only costs a coffee.

@shawngoldwater I like to think that most of us realize that @chad never expected to see mstdn.ca grow the way it did, especially since he funded it out of his own pocket. The best we can do is recognize that he's not a corporation with deep pockets in both time and in money and give him a little room to breathe. @andykm mstdn.ca is great, I'm glad I switched over to it from mastodon.online. I like being on a Canada-centric server so that I'm exposed to more Canadian-centric topics. @chad is a pretty great admin, very transparent as far as I can tell. I donate $2/month to both https://mstdn.ca/about and to https://patreon.com/mastodon to support the effort. Freedom isn't free! #CoffeeDonation

@leo I recommend a monthly #CoffeeDonation to both. We need the Mastodon devs just as much as we need local server operators.

@atomicpoet I've setup a #CoffeeDonation to both the official mastodon project as well as my local server. (Yes, I'm trying to get the hashtag to trend) A coffee per month is the least I can do, and with enough of us pledging a coffee a month, we should easily cover costs and leave room for the folks who can't afford to donate.

For those who haven't noticed, I really want to get #CoffeeDonation trending, because it's important that we support (a) our local servers and (b) the devs who make this all possible. If you've ever bought a coffee for a friend, you can do this!

In addition to supporting my #LocalServer, I've also setup a monthly #CoffeeDonation to the #Mastodon project itself. Free and open-source doesn't pay for itself, the developers need our support, and if we all just donate a medium coffee's worth a month, it would be enough to keep this project alive in perpetuity. I'd rather see my #CoffeeDonation go to #FOSS projects than a billionaire's pocket. Help us #ReachCriticalMass it only costs a #Coffee
